TRAP : No matter how much you prepare, you will never have enough.

No matter how much you prepare, you will never have enough. No matter how much you prepare, you will never have enough.

What? Never have enough?  Correct.  No matter how much money and time you have, no matter how large a basement (or bunker) you have filled with all kinds of preparedness gear, equipment, and food, it will never be enough to get you through all disasters and emergencies that might (or will) come your way.No matter how much you prepare, you will never have enough.

You can mitigate that by having friends, developing a preparedness group and being patient.  Yes, patient.

Set your priorities and then keep working steadily towards your goals.

  1. What you say about never having ‘enough’ is accurate YET no plan will allow you to accumulate ‘enough’.
Eventually or even sooner you will run out of an essential.
    What’s the plan then?
Phone a friend, nip down to the shops?

Prepping and survival plans should be based on you NOT using your stores until all else has failed for the simple reason that when everything has failed, there will be non easy re-supply option.

Prepping should therefore contain a STRONG element of foraging and scavenging.

    Scavenging.
Some people call that preparing to become a looter, a marauder, becoming one of life’s bad guys, it’s not.

    Consider this.
If there was a massive die off due to XYZ, there is going to be one heck of a lot of supplies just lying round in peoples houses, warehouses, shops maybe. Yet most of the preppers who have followed the mantra of ‘build up your stocks and you’ll be OK’ will just sit at home eating / using their precious supplies in preference to actively seeking supplies on a continuous basis.

So is stockpiling a bad thing?
Not at all but the fortress mentality of building up tonnes of spares will see you through whatever happens is flawed as it doesn’t help you if you are forced out of your comfort zone..

Once you are dispossessed by an event or even the authorities without the knowledge on how to forage and scavenge, you’re just a statistic waiting to happen.

    Sounds unlikely? Really?
Wild fire breaks out. The police are told to get everyone out, no arguments.
Only afterwards you come back to ashes.

A dam is about to break or a hurricane is forecast and your area is cleared “for your own protection”.
Water has a funny way of destroying things with you coming back to what?
A flooded store room at best, a wreaked home at worse, or even your home is under 50 foot of water in a newly formed lake.

Your own Fukushima or Chernobyl happens.
Your plan for the next year is what exactly?
Frequent dashes into a hot zone to resupply?

Not forgetting the real bad guys just invade your home and steal everything!
