- You say you voted for Trump but you sure don’t sound like you support him now. Why?
First off…you kinda hinted that I only “said” I voted for Trump. In reality I did…3 times…for President. Why did I vote for him the last time (2024)? Because he laid out a plan I could support…his plan on what he would do as our leader.
Next, I absolutely positively no longer support Trump…there is zero question about that. And I am glad you asked “Why?” because that is the important part.
Let’s take “opinion” and “feelings” out of it completely. Let’s talk documented facts…and what they mean to me.
Trump made 7 clear campaign promises that were incredibly important to me. So important that my vote and support hinged on them. They were:
- Cut energy prices by 50% within one year.
- Get gasoline below $2 a gallon.
- “I’m not going to start a war. I’m going to stop wars.”
- End the Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours.
- Pay off the national debt.
- Defeat inflation and quickly bring down prices.
- Foreign countries would pay the tariffs.
There is an 8th…Illegal Immigration (secure the border & deport illegals). Trump can absolutely claim a win securing the southern border. And I am grateful for that. However, immigration arrests and detention are substantially up, but total deportations have not exceeded Biden’s final-year level. Yeah, I find that one very interesting.
Back to the 7 key promises Trump made that are extremely important to me:
| Trump’s Pre-Election Promise | Result |
|---|---|
| “I will cut your energy prices by 50%…within one year.” | Energy costs increased by 22.9%. |
| “We’re going down and getting gasoline below $2 a gallon.” | Gasoline prices increased by 49.0%. |
| “I’m not going to start a war. I’m going to stop wars.” | Trump started the Iran War in 2026. At least 35,000 Iranian casualties, most of them civilians, and nearly 900 American casualties. |
| “It’ll be done within 24 hours, you watch.” | The Russia-Ukraine war continues (20 months later), with roughly an additional 750,000 combined casualties since Trump took office. |
| “We’re going to pay off debt of our country.” | The national debt increased by $3.85 trillion under Trump. |
| “Defeat inflation, and quickly bring down all prices.” | The inflation rate increased by 17% under Trump. |
| Foreign countries would pay the tariffs. | Trump’s tariffs are costing the average American household about $1,100 per year. |
Now, it is up to you how you view his promises vs his actions. Some would call them “lies”, other wouldn’t. Some might say “broken promises”…much kinder. For me…they are utter and complete failures. Failures that are costing huge numbers of lives and unimaginable economic losses. Worst of all…hurting America’s families.
Another item that I didn’t include above as a “promise vs result” is the economy. Under Trump 15 important economic indicators affecting American families…1 is better, 1 is unchanged, and 13 are worse under Trump. Yeah…the stats don’t lie and they don’t have an opinion…Trump’s economy is an unmitigated disaster for the average American family.

And lastly…
“Harris would have been worse!”
First off…no one has evidence, facts, or stats to prove that to be true. Why? She didn’t become president. A person can guess and have an opinion…but they don’t “know”.
And then honestly…“Harris would have been worse” is not an answer to whether Trump kept the promises on which I based my vote.
So there you go…that’s why I can’t/won’t support Trump and will continue to speak truth about what is going on in the United States right now…a disaster.
Let me leave you with this:
- 2 out of 3 US citizens think the US is on the “wrong track.”
- 2 out of 3 US citizens disapprove of Trump’s job performance…lower than Reagan, Bush #1, Clinton, Bush #2, Obama, and Biden. Even 27% of Republicans disapprove of Trump’s job performance.
Now, let’s close the loop on this…
- There are the 7 “broken promises” (intentional in my opinion, but factually “broken” all the same).
- There is the terrible and deteriorating economy (absolute fact according to the statistics and real numbers).
Those are objective, observable, and provable facts. And then there is the intangible…at least somewhat intangible…in my opinion…
Chaos, Confusion, Contention, & Conflict
This surrounds Trump on a daily basis…sometimes hourly. To be fair, there was a similar environment with previous presidents; with Obama it was monthly, with Biden weekly, Clinton…one big one, Bush #2, a couple…albeit major ones. But Trump…it is as if he…
Well, let’s call it “attention saturation”. For me it means…
When everything is a crisis, we lose track of which fire we’re supposed to be fighting.
And that means instability for the country…and that isn’t good…by any measure…for anyone.
The question that keeps coming to my mind is:
Is it chaos as an outcome…or…is chaos as a tactic?
