For many reasons the mid-term elections were a complete disaster. And on top of that…it will be disastrous for the United States for the next two years. Well, truth be told…it will potentially be a disaster for America for decades to come. Then again, it just might be a turning point that no one sees coming.
A lot of questions have come to me about the election. I will take them one at a time, I will edit them to make them consistently readable:
#1 – Was the election legitimate?
Well, if the 2024 election was legitimate that elected Trump, why wouldn’t the 2026 election that swept Democrats to control both the House and Senate be legitimate?
#2 – Was this really a vote against Trump?
All evidence from exit polling shows it was clearly a vote against Trump. Now, granted some of the Republican candidates were terrible, some were idiots, and some corrupt. So they didn’t do the party or themselves any favors either.
Exit polls showed that 67-70% of voters disapprove of Trump’s policies and actions as president…and it was very personal as well. Voters don’t like Trump personally…and that was also a huge motivation for voting.
Top reasons voters voted against Trump; handling of the economy, personality, war, and worried about his use of presidential power.
Interesting to remember…polls for months prior to the election showed Trump’s disapproval rating at 60-70%. And the voting proved that to be pretty accurate and motivational.
#3 – Was Republican voter turnout the reason so many Republicans lost?
A little bit but not much. Mostly is was disaffected voters in general. 10% of Republicans that voted for Trump in 2024 voted for Democrats in 2026. 20% of Independents that voted for Trump in 2024 voted for Democrats in in 2026. 20% of people that didn’t vote in 2024 came out to vote for Democrats. Hispanic voting block support for Trump fell by about 20%. Voters with incomes under $50,000 shifted from roughly evenly divided prior to Trump taking office to significant majority voting Democratic.
So there are no reliable percentage figures of Republicans who voted in 2024 didn’t vote in 2026. But, there are huge numbers of voters who voted for Trump in 2024 that voted for Democrat candidates in 2026.
#4 – Was this a mandate against Trump?
No. I would not call it a “mandate”…as such. The November 3 election provides substantial evidence of a national rejection of Trump’s leadership and policies. If you look at the exit poll numbers it shows that voters don’t support Trump’s polices and his actions as president. In other words…they wanted Trump restrained. If he was running for re-election as president and he lost by this kind of landslide then it would be a mandate.
And if you really look closely at the numbers it was also not a mandate for the Democrat Party policies and agenda. The majority of voters just wanted Trump stopped.
#5 – Was this a landslide election victory for Democrats?
Well, that is truly an interesting question.
Prior to the election, in the House Republicans held 4 more seats then Democrats. Democrats were projected to pick up somewhere around 12 – 20 seats depending on the talking head.
As of now Democrats have (called seats) a 91 seat majority come 2027. There are 32 more seats that have not been called. Of those, it appears Republicans will probably pick up 18 and Democrats will pick up 13. So Dems will end up with around a 86 seat majority.
So do the math Repubs went from a 4 seat majority to the Dems potentially having an 86 seat majority. That’s 21 times a better majority in favor of Dems.
Yup…that is a landslide in any book!
Now…the Senate. Talking heads said Dems might flip 3 seats on a good night…maybe.
And then reality hit home!
Democrats flipped 7 seats and now stand at 54 seats…a clear majority. That shocked everyone…well, almost. Some of us had a pretty clear idea about Trump the last week before the election.
And one more thing…there are still two Senate seats undecided. And both are showing the Democrat candidate ahead and favored to win. If they go in favor of the Dems you could be looking at 57 Democrat held Senate seats.
* * *
Now, something interesting to think about…it takes 2/3 Senate vote to remove an impeached president from office. If all 100 Senators voted, it would require 67 Senators to remove Trump from Office. Dems already have 57 of those votes, that leaves 10 Republicans standing in the way of removing Trump from office.
But hang on…at least 13 Republican senators have publicly criticized Trump or opposed significant administration policies during 2025–2026. That is a documented minimum, not a deep dive count. Theoretically, with the political winds absolutely against Trump…10 out of the 13 would be needed to vote to remove Trump. Possible? Yes. Probable? At this point…only maybe at best.
#6 – Will the country be better off with Democrats in control of Congress?
At this point…no. Dems have publicly stated their agenda items. Do I think they will stick to them? Of course not.
They will go after everything and anything Trump…just like Trump’s people went after everything Democrat post-2024 election.
In politics revenge is everything.
Now, if you really look at the Democrat Party platform, it is terrible for America. If you look at the far-left of the Democrat Party it is far worse than just terrible.
Hopefully Trump will use the power of the veto to stop the Dems with their stupid crap. As of now…did you hear that…as of now…no Republican Party candidate will win the presidency in 2028. And that will be destructive to American in ways I can’t even imagine…because that means a Democrat will win the Presidency in 2028.
Republicans are to blame for their own loss…and Trump is at the top of that blame list. Republicans and Trump proved to be an utter and complete disaster for the country in 2025 & 2026.
#7 – What do you think tanked Trump in the mid-terms?
First off nobody “tanked” Trump, it was not a presidential election. Although, voters made it clear in word and deed it was about him. So, to directly answer your question…simplified…he said one thing and did another.
As President:
- He bombed the crap out of Iran in 2025, then started a war with them in 2026.
- He attacked and overthrew a sovereign nation’s government in 2025.
- He started trade wars around the world to the detriment of the US.
- He raised tariffs and cost US citizens 10’s of billions of dollars.
- He drove up inflation on virtually everything, especially fuel.
- He made housing far more expensive.
- He drove up unemployment.
- He didn’t release all the Epstein files and didn’t go after a single predator.
Then personally:
- He is arrogant beyond the pale.
- Made a fool out of himself about the Nobel Peace Prize.
- He lied consistently for the last 3 years.
- He tore down part of the White House to serve his ego by building something so gaudy it is hard to look at.
- Looked like a clown on the international stage regarding Greenland.
- He wants to build a ridiculous, uncalled for, Trump Arch in Washington, a monument to himself. An arch that looks more appropriate in 1930’s Germany.
- He all but destroyed the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, commonly called the Kennedy Center.
And the Kennedy Center is a good example of his personality disorders:
- 2021 – 2024 Engineering assessments took place and a plan established to repair structural and infrastructure problems.
- 2024 An estimate that it would take about $160million to repair; a plan was set into place. The plan would accomplish the needed repairs in phases preventing the Center from closing.
- The Kennedy Center is owned by the US Government, controlled by a Board of Trustees, the Trustees are appointed by the President of the United States, and the Board appoints its Chairman.
- Feb 2025 Trump began replacing trustees with his political loyalists, senior administration officials, major donors, and people with close personal connections to him.
- Feb 2025 Trump appointed himself to the Board of Trustees.
- Feb 2025 The Board named Trump Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Trump was now in charge of the Kennedy Center.
- Aug 2025 Trump referred to the Kennedy Center as the Trump-Kennedy Center.
- Dec 2025 The Board voted to rename the Kennedy Center to the Trump-Kennedy Center.
- 2026 Speaking to New York Magazine, Trump was asked about building monuments to himself. His response, “That’s true. Nobody will do it once I’m gone. When I leave here, nobody will.”
- May 2026 A federal judge ruled the name change illegal.
- Sep 2026 Unless his name was added to the Kennedy Center Trump threatened that renovations would not proceed and it could eventually be torn down.
Look, anyone of reasonable intelligence and being honest, knows exactly the kind of person you have to be to do something so audacious as putting your name on a 55 year-old monument to a war hero and former president who was loved and assassinated.
You have to be suffering from egomania (Narcissistic Personality Disorder) to do something like Trump did to want his name on such a monument. Then when he was told “no” he throws a temper tantrum and threatens to destroy it. That is exactly what a 2-year old petulant child would do.
People see that…even his MAGA wing sees that for what it is. People just got sick and tired of his childish behavior and inappropriate actions. And that is on top of some of stupidest crap to ever come out of a president’s mouth. The mid-term elections were the voice of rejection…rejection of Trump and his world of chaos, confusion, contention, and conflict…and his sheer stupidity.
#8 – Who do think will become president in 2028?
Well…no one. What?
Yeah, the election will be held in 2028, whomever is elected won’t take office (i.e. become the next president) until January 2029 🙂
Here’s some interesting trivia…based on the prediction market…there is a 3% chance that there won’t even be an election in 2028.
Back to responding to your question…I have no idea who will be running for or be elected as the next president. But, I will tell you this…it will be a Democrat that becomes president. After what Trump has done to the Republican Party and what the Republican Party has allowed Trump to do and what the party has done to itself…we may not see a republican president for decades…maybe never again.
Yup, the Republican Party as it stands now, may dissolve…just fade away. And rightfully and hopefully so in my opinion.
From now until the 2028 presidential election is held we will get to see what the Democrats can/will do. And it will be a disaster for the country. And the majority of people will be sick of them almost as much as people are/were sick of Trump…maybe more, time will tell.
So I guess you can say that the Democrats won’t win the 2028 presidential election as much as, by default, the Republicans will lose the election. Voters will just be too gun shy of getting another Trump to take a chance on Republicans.
But here is something to think about…Democrats are a walking disaster and normal people will eventually see that, if they don’t already. But Republicans have proven the same. So, by the mid-terms of 2030 people will be completely disgusted with both parties…as they should be. That really opens the door between now and then to a viable chance for a third-party to emerge.

One real alternative political movement I am looking at, seriously looking at, is the Constitution Party.
From their website:
- We are like you.
- We are the people.
- We are the Constitution Party.
- America has a better way, it’s called the Constitution.
- America Needs People Committed to its Founding Principles!
How can you argue or reject stuff like that! That’s the stuff patriots and Founders would say.
Yeah…it is easy, and will become even easier, to reject the Democrats and Republicans…they have both been complete and utter disasters for America for decades…okay, maybe more like the last 130 years. They are truly two sides of the same coin.
Let’s hope for change.
NO…I change my mind…let’s hope for restoration…restoration of the Constitution!

#9 – Do you really think Trump is dangerous now as president and what he might do?
Yes.
Be prepared. Be patient. Be peaceful. Be prayerful. Grow closer to God.
