As a result of my article “Care & Share” on 8/27 I have been sent this feedback on what some wonderful folks have been doing the last few months.
This is the stuff we need!!!
1) A neighbor saw a nearby family out of gas for their vehicle. They took them a 5-gal can of gas.
2) A coupe of neighbors greeted a family moving into their neighborhood, the new family had virtually no food with them, no jobs, and virtually no money. They organized a food-drive among their friends and delivered 3-months of food to the family.
3) A local solar company owner donated used and left-over parts from solar system installations to be used for those in need. To date 4 families have benefited from that generous donation.
4) A friend saw another friend trying to build-up their soil for a garden…by hand. The friend used his dump trailer to pick-up multiple yards of compost for the new gardener.
5) On two separate occasions a neighbor saw another neighbor (disabled vet) dangerously low wood pile last winter. He promptly took a load of wood over for the family each time.
5) A neighbor planted his very large garden too soon and a freeze was approaching that would kill all of the plants. Four families rallied and dug up hundreds of plants and moved them to his greenhouse. When the threat of freezing passed, they replanted all of the plants.
7) A part-time solar installer saw an older couple struggling with their solar system that wasn’t working. He donated over 40 hours of time and parts to the older couple to get their solar system up and running.
8) A neighbor saw that the private roads in their weren’t getting maintained well. He donated his tractor and fuel to work on the roads. When other neighbors saw that work, over $2,000 of donations were raised to buy rock for those roads.
9) An homesteader hurt his back and was unable to work his garden. Multiple neighbors came to the rescue and weeded his garden for 2 weeks while he recovered.
10) A neighbor saw a new family struggling to gut and remodel their house. The neighbor spent over 100 hours to help the family with their project.
Please keep it up…we all need to give and receive!
