It’s been one year ago today that Sparky passed on…
This was him in 2019. He was helping me build our house. Just before I took this picture he had been playing around the building site, dirty as all get out, and he was so happy to just be…yeah, just to be.
I was living alone in a cabin (less than 300sq’) without water, no toilette, no shower, no stove, pretty much just roughing it. He was my companion the whole time…a faithful one. He was so patient and loving…a God-send. Every morning I would wake up with him curled up laying behind my knees.
There is so much more to say but I just can’t today.
I miss him.

I’m sorry for your loss. I know God will send you another joyful helper. They seem to come when least expected (at least in my case) and are all the more precious for it.

He was obviously that highest and best of companions – a Good Boy! Sorry for your loss. I hope you can find your way to love another Good Boy – and soon.

Thank you for your kind words. He was an amazing companion! Very tuned in, very bonded, very lovable. He just had a way about him.
We tried another dog a few months ago. Great dog…by herself. She and our 9yo dog (who we had since a puppy) got into a couple small dust-ups…no biggie. Then one night the new dog tore up our 9yo…chunk out of the ear, blood, etc. The new dog went back to the humane society. Wrong breed for us. We are looking at another Golden or Golden/Lab mix…older male.

Goldens are wonderful dogs – happy, strong, and loyal. But, they have a mind of their own – especially the males – naturally. I had the pleasure of caring for one long ago – and two of my neighbors currently are owned by Goldens. They are a good choice in my area – we have wolves, bears, and big cats roaming around.

I caught the “…two of my neighbors currently are owned by Goldens.” Boy, ain’t that the truth. They just own your heart and soul…they are that good.
No bears in our area, one big cat came through a year or so ago and moved on. I did see a wold here abouts maybe 4 years ago, but not lately. Thankfully.
Goldens are just flat out wonderful dogs…their spirit is amazing!

I think that our faithful companions will be with us in the next life as well. He’s waiting for you. Don’t hurry off to meet him however.

Yes…he will be waiting with that silly face, and huge smile, and a very wagging tail.
