FWIW : Imbroglio means “An imbroglio is a complicated or confusing situation, often involving misunderstandings or entanglements. It can refer to a messy dispute or a difficult scenario that is hard to resolve.”

Yep, that is exactly what I meant by using the term “imbroglio.”
I don’t know how much more confused that this can get.
It can also imply fraud or shady things are going on.
