Don’t ! !

Normally on the 9/11 anniversary I post something in remembrance, years ago I posted my story of 9/11. Not this year. But, on this anniversary there is still a relevant point…Charlie Kirk.

I spent some time last night accessing several social media websites to read the comments regarding Charlie’s assassination. There were some very heartfelt posts that could touch the heart of anyone…but they were far and few between. At the other end of the spectrum were the radical and insane leftists who celebrated Kirk’s death. It was disgusting and representative of a corrupt and black heart…dare I say, evil.

Immediately after 9/11 the spirit in America was amazing…I had never felt anything like it before. People were kind, considerate, warm, helpful, and just amazing people…true Americans. Where we are 24 years later it is opposite of that…to the point of it being almost incomprehensible. The country is divided politically, socially, economically, judiciously, and in almost every other category that you can come up with. It is unbelievably sad to see.

I am old enough to remember the riots and violence of the 1960’s…it was scary and reached most of America in one form or another. It centered mostly around the Vietnam war, race, and politics. But Americans were not as universally fractured as we are today. It took decades for Americans to overcome most of the fractures of society and to heal to a great degree.

What about the “Don’t ! !” ?

Here is my plea to you…Don’t get involved in the finger pointing. Don’t get into a debate or argument over Kirk’s assassination. Don’t get ugly with those who are celebrating Kirk’s murder. Just don’t…please.

No one who is praising or mocking Kirk’s death will change their view or opinion from anything anyone says. Those people will have to deal with their black hearts at some future time and place. Hopefully they can change their spirit to one of light and love. However, nothing can or will be gained by engaging with those who think ill of Kirk and feel it was karma or anything similar. Just let it go…please.

What I also ask is simple…prayer. Please pray first and foremost for his wife, young children, and extended family. Pray mightily for them. Then, if you have it in you, please pray for our country and citizens. This country is so divided and at odds with each other that we are sitting on a powder keg ready to blow. Don’t let Charlie’s death be the spark that ignites a storm that will do no one any good. Pray for peace and calm and for hearts to be touched and to become tender.

  2. I’m right there with you A.H. I just can’t wrap my head around how there can be so many people, including people I know who are posting such evil thoughts and so callous as to say things so flipant like “oh well, now what’s for dinner”. So many saying , well, he got what he deserved. NO ONE deserves to be killed for freedom of expression, that is a God given right for every single person. It doesn’t matter what side of the fence you sit on politically. He was a good man who loved and feared God and only cared what God thought of him and hoped he was doing the best he could in His eyes. So many loved him and believed in his messages and the destructive forces we can not see realized this as well.
I agree, pray for his family and for this nation. It is going in the wrong direction and only getting worse.

    • You are spot on! For every point you make. Thank you!
His biggest achievement…IMO…he got high school and college kids engaged in thinking about principles/issues. And then he encouraged people to discuss and debate those same principles/issues. He was all about getting people to communicate and listen to each other. And therein…settle disagreements BEFORE they turned violent.
      Amazing man in my opinion.
