Just bought…what do I do?

We just bought a piece of land in good area. There is nothing on it but trees, vegetation, and some nice rolling hills. We don’t know what we should do first. We took your advice and wrote down its “mission” before we bought it. It is our vacation place for now and when the SHTF it is our bugout place. So what’s next? Oh, we paid cash for it from our IRA and we do have some money to get some items done. It may or may not be a retirement place for us.

First off…congratulations!!! Congrats on buying a place and double congrats that you didn’t borrow money to acquire it.

Normally I would simply refer you to the 7 Common Risks/Threats pages and advise you to follow that: 1) Violence 2) Injury or Sickness 3) Communications (lack of or poor) 4) Organization (lack of or poor) 5) Dehydration 6) Exposure 7) Starvation. However, in your case…building up a quasi-homestead / Bugout location…it’s a bit different in some aspects. Mostly due to timing.

Since there is no infrastructure, that is your fist goal, due to time-frames. But, that doesn’t mean you sit back while waiting on that to happen. Many tasks can be done in parallel…meaning concurrently. But lets get back to infrastructure.

Water –

You need at least two sources of water. Both need to be reliable, the primary source needs to be extremely reliable. If you have running water, river or stream, that is one source; rainwater can be another source. If your river/stream is 100% reliable then you are good to go, just develop a way to harvest it, move it, store it, and purify it. For rainwater you will need a capture system (harvesting) which is normally a building’s roof. Since you have no building roof yet, that will have to wait.

Around here a well is a necessity, period. If you need a well you need to get on it quickly. Ask your neighbors and church members who they used and trust. Then contact at least 2, if not 3, drillers and ask them to give you a price on a successful drilled well. You can ask them for a separate price on a pump set-up. While the trustworthy ones will balk at the ‘successful’ well idea, they should be able to estimate the well depth and odds of hitting water. The different estimates should be similar in depth and odds since that information is readily available through state records.

I don’t suggest you drill your own well…for a variety of reasons. You need a professional job done that is safe and will last way past your lifetime. We decided on a DC pump with solar panels because our well, that was already drilled, is 750’ from our house. An independent power system for the well was required, not optional. We put the pump in ourselves using MDPE pipe. We went with the pipe, 210’ of it, so we could maintain the well ourselves. We also did all the plumbing and wiring ourselves.

There is plenty of good information online showing how to do it. Here is an overview of our system:

Around here folks can wait as long as a year to get a well in. So make this a very high priority to get underway quickly. Also, be careful how much deposit you put down…there are stories of companies running off with deposits. That is why you choose a trusted company that folks you trust recommend to you.

Violence –

Back to the 7 Common…put a small cache together of weapons. The minimum should be a pistol, tactical shotgun, couple hundred rounds for each, and a good knife. Hide it really well, but make it fairly accessible.

Why the cache? You may not be able to get guns to your property if you had to bugout…they may have been stolen or confiscated. And if you have multiple folks, including kids, that can properly handle guns…then a cache for each if you can swing it. Hide each cache in a different place on the property…not anywhere near the property line.

Then do the same thing for emergency medical kits that you did with the weapons. The minimum I would do is a BOK & IFAK. I would prefer to see you add in a TBAK and STAK as well. An option would be Home/Family First Aid Kit.

Christmas Message 2023

This Christmas message is from a talk I gave yesterday in our Christmas Eve service at church…

At this time of the year when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ with beautiful music and we also read about that miraculous birth of Jesus in the scriptures.

In Isiah we read, “For unto us a child is born, to us a son is given.”

Then there are the familiar Christmas stories in Luke, John, and Mathew. They are wonderful, full of the spirit, and their telling has become spiritual traditions around the world.

A few weeks ago as I was preparing for my Sunday School lesson that I gave last week, I asked myself the question, “Why, why was it Jesus specifically?”

Then a quick follow-up question to that, “Why not another from the premortal existence where we lived with our Heavenly Father?”

There were others, one in particular, but they were not chosen.

As I pondered on it I realized that Christ was willing, He also had a better plan, and He loved us dearly, but most of all…He was humble.

How so? He wanted our Heavenly Father to receive all the glory and honor of this wonderful plan of salvation, the plan of happiness.

But it was even more than that. Jesus loved us so much He is our advocate to the Father, to plead our case for our eternal salvation individually, one-on-one, personally.

And for this He would not only pay the price for our sins, He would suffer all of our pains, all our sicknesses, and all our fears.

He would suffer everything of ours to know us, to love us for who we truly are as a child of God.

I mention again what I believe to be Jesus’s most qualifying trait to be the Christ…Humility.

“Why so?” you might ask.

As we read once again the wonderful Christmas stories of His birth and as we listen to beautiful Christmas season music, it is easy to envision that small child wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a stable manger 2,000 years ago.

How incredibly humble is that to start His earthly mission…His mission for us, for all of us.

I testify that Jesus is the Christ. He lives, He loves each of us, He is working to bring us back to our Father in Heaven. Jesus is the Son of God, it is His mission to bring us back. That small, innocent, pure infant in that manger so long ago.

Colorado Ruling…Don’t get suckered into it !

You’ve more than likely heard by now about Colorado…the People’s Republic of Colorado. Well, let’s start with who/what exactly Colorado is:

  • Colorado has a Democrat controlled State Senate, State House of Representatives, and a radical leftist Democrat Governor.
  • Colorado made the transition to a leftist governed state back in 2005. It has been a radical leftist state since 2007, a virtual haven for Marxists, Communists, Socialists (i.e. Democrats) since 2013.
  • Colorado attacked and attempted to destroy the 2nd Amendment in 2013 by banning high-capacity magazines.
  • Colorado’s Supreme Court is all Democrat with 4 radically leftist/socialist justices.
  • In 2016 the state voted Clinton over Trump 47% vs 44%, in 2020 they voted Biden over Trump 56% vs 42%.
  • This all shows that Colorado is increasingly ruled by a hardcore leftist/authoritarian regime.

Now, what exactly did their recent State Supreme Court ruling do?

  1. It found that on Jan6th Trump, by his actions and words, was guilty of insurrection and rebellion according to the US Constitution’s 14th Amendment.
  2. As such;
    • Trump was ineligible to participate in the state’s primary,
    • His name could not show up on the state’s primary ballot,
    • The Secretary of State was not allowed to count any write-in primary ballots for Trump.
  1. The decision was 4 – 3.

Now let’s figure out what this all means:

  1. It is already being appealed to the US Supreme Court (SCOTUS).
  2. If SCOTUS even remotely reads the 14th Amendment as written then the Colorado ruling will be overturned.
  3. If SCOTUS somehow upholds the ruling then California, New York, Illinois, Michigan, Minnesota, Maryland, & Massachusetts will probably not be far behind in ruling the same. Why? Because they too are radical hardcore leftist/authoritarian run states.
  4. If #3 occurs, then Trump stands no chance of being elected in 2024.

Now for the bigger picture…

If the Colorado ruling is upheld, and especially if multiple states follow suit, then there will be war…American will burn. Militarized police during grid-down, ready to kill civilians to get whatever they want and to remain in power.Why? Because a large percentage of the US population won’t tolerate such a blatant overthrow of the country by the radical authoritarian leftists. And it won’t be BLM or AntiFa that fights off the MAGA folks along with others.

Who then?

The same folks that have gone after the Jan6th crowd…the radical authoritarian and extremely violent federal law enforcement agencies (i.e. FBI, DHS, ATF, CIA, etc.)…we’ll call them the FPoPo. Oh yeah, the same FpoPo’s that have gone after the ProLife senior citizens, ministers, and pastors for praying and singing outside of abortion factories. The same FPoPo that interfered in the 2020 & 2016 Presidential elections.

What are the real reasons that the Colorado Supreme Court ruled to keep Trump off the primary ballot?

  1. To cause a distraction from what is really happening in the country…it is falling apart and being overrun by 10’s of millions of illegal aliens.
  2. To allow the Dems, specifically Biden’s team, to tarnish Trumps name with the independent voters.
  3. To invigorate the radical leftist voter base (i.e. Democrats).
  4. Taking a long shot that SCOTUS will uphold the ruling and tank Trump’s Presidential run in 2024.

But here we get into the nitty-gritty of the real plan:

  1. If the MAGA crowd and/or anyone else goes violent, or even the remotest appearance of violence, the FPoPo will come down like the Cultural Revolution in China. The National Guard will be called up and blood will flow, and if not martial law, something akin to it will be imposed.
  2. And then…the 2nd Amendment disappears based on a whole list of reasons the leftists will come up with…mostly safety and security reasoning.
  3. And also the 1st Amendment will be all but useless due to hate and violent speech being outlawed. Of course…only to avoid further violence.
  4. Thus, the authoritarians, FPoPo and military included, win. Not the leftists…they will lose shortly thereafter…it will be those that seek to finish turning the US into a totalitarian state who will win.

And this goes for the whole concept of a US Civil War breaking out. US citizens will not win if a civil war breaks out. The devastation, the death, the destruction, the evil that will come of a civil war will destroy any last vestiges of America as a Constitutional Republic. In other words…the authoritarians want a civil war…it is exactly what they want, it will give them everything that they desire to finish their plan.

Let me share this with you…the FPoPo have plans to deal with any related potential civil unrest like you have no concept of. The sheer brutality, the violence, the evil that they would rein down on US civilians would know no bounds…and it’s hard to even imagine for the average person.

So I am telling you to consider this:

  1. Pray for our country, pray that SCOTUS will do the right thing, pray for divine intervention.
  2. Do NOT attend any rallies, protests, or demonstrations objecting to the Colorado ruling. The FPoPo will be there just as on Jan6th. They will be taking names, instigating, and salivating at the opportunity to put more patriots and conservatives in prison…or worse.
  3. Talk with adult members of your family about this situation. Advise clam but discuss “what ifs” if it appropriate to do so.
  4. Continue to prep for whatever scenarios you see coming…especially the worst case ones.
  5. Clarify your principles, determine your ‘red lines’, and actions you will take if those lines are crossed.
  6. Then, most of all, pray some more…we need divine intervention.

What I am telling you not to do…Don’t get suckered into falling into their trap…that is exactly what they want you to do.

Toilette & Tractor

I really hope the title hooked you in to reading this…it is actually two stories of how people can work together. Yup, I’m serious…let’s get to it.

Tractor first…My neighbor across the road has a decent little piece of property but he lives in a big city about 4 hours away. He is steadily improving his property and he is a really nice guy with a great family. He also owns a 60hp Kabota tractor with front-loader and a 6-way box blade. About 1-1/2 years ago he stopped coming up every weekend due to job and family responsibilities. And he was concerned about leaving the tractor on his property out in the open and unsecured. I offered to store the tractor at my place where it would be much safer.

He accepted my offer and told me to use it as needed, whether for myself, the neighbor, or to maintain that roads. I’ve been doing so generously with neighbors and on the roads. Last month the hydraulics started having a problem, the estimate was well north of a $1,000. We bought the parts at discount, I did the work, and got the tractor back up and running. But it cost hundreds of dollars to fix.

Last summer I helped out one neighbor quit a bit with the tractor. When I was done she handed me a nice sized check, I thanked her and put the cash aside. Guess what paid for the tractor repairs plus a full tank of fuel? Yup, you guessed it.

Now the toilette…Last week my toilette finally got to the point where it wasn’t doing anywhere near a full flush and nothing I tried fixed it. Off to Lowes for a new toilette since that was the last thing on my trouble shooting list. Got it home, installed it, everything works fine! Yea…my wife is very happy. But, it cost $197…and, while not horribly expensive, that was a hit to the budget we weren’t expecting.

For the last 6 months or so I’ve been helping a family who owns a home here in a nearby town, about 20 minutes away. They live out of town and use this local home as an Airbnb. I did a number of small things for them, helping them out. They asked me a number of times if they could pay me but I declined, I just want to help folks out.

Well, guess what shows up in my PayPal account the day after I installed the toilette? Yup, $200 from those nice and very generous folks.

Why do I share this? Well, pretty simple…if we work together things get done in the right time and in the right way. We help each other, we take care of each other, and everyone can win…if we do the right things for the right reasons.

Please be a good disciple…be His hands…stretch your compassion…let’s work together to defeat the evil in the world today.

Not going to do it…

I literally have 4 articles ready for final editing and then posting…but…not going to do it.

Why? Coz I decided it is the last few days before Christmas and I don’t want to detract from this precious holiday.

I am going to share a message with you today and another tomorrow. Tomorrow the title is something along the lines of “Toilette & Tractor”…bet that got your attention.

Today is a somber message but one we’ve seen coming. On 12/12 I mentioned that the food banks in our area, as well as around the country are in desperate need of help. Families are hurting big time! Families need food assistance…and food banks are desperately short of food to help those families. I encouraged you to donate to a local food bank to help out. I hope you did.

Yesterday I received an email from one of our local church leaders. It stated that there are a significant number of families that are in financial need right now. Those families simply don’t have enough money to pay bills, buy food, and to have any kind of Christmas for their kids. They were asking if we could purchase a gift card of any amount and give it to our Bishop so he could pass it along to those families in need.

Folks, this country is hurting…it is hurting really bad…it many, many ways. Some of those issues are beyond our capabilities to do much, if anything, to help. But, we can help out with this one.

I am asking you to help out those in need financially or in need of food. I don’t know your circumstances or your capacity to help out. I don’t know what the needs are in your area, but it can’t be much different than the rest of the country. I am asking you to help.

Please give grocery store gift cards, Walmart gift cards, anything… drop off a bag of food -or two or three bags- to a local food bank, drop a $20 bill into the Salvation Army kettle…please just do something.

Have compassion, clothe the naked, feed the poor, help show what a disciple of Christ is capable of. We need each other more than ever.

If you aren’t sure how to help…pray about it. Ask God to show you how you can help, who you can help, when you can help. He will answer that prayer.

Granted…this doesn’t cover the entire United States, and it doesn’t mean it won’t be overturned as soon as next year…but it is an extreme example of where we are today…and where we might be headed. And it also exposes the Supreme Court for the joke that it is.

I am speaking about what you have probably already heard…the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) allowed an Illinois ‘assault weapons’ ban/registry to stand. Here are the particulars:

  1. To understand the background it is first necessary to know that Illinois is is an extremely liberal/progressive/authoritarian state. It doesn’t support the Constitution and doesn’t support the Bill of Rights…and is only interested in creating a Marxist/Socialist state with an all powerful government dictating the behavior of its subjects. And on top of all of that…it’s political system is extremely corrupt.
  2. In January 2023 the Governor of Illinois signed the ban for anyone who “carries or possesses… manufactures, sells, delivers, imports, or purchases any assault weapon or .50 caliber rifle.” But it didn’t stop there, it also included, it makes it illegal for people who, “sells, manufactures, delivers, imports, possesses, or purchases any assault weapon attachment or .50 caliber cartridge.“
  3. If you are found guilty of a second offense it is a felony and you are headed for prison. Example: you possess an AR-15 and a 30-round magazine you are guilty of two violations of the law and you are felon and headed to prison. Each magazine, stock, fore-grip, muzzle brake, etc. would be a separate offense…a felony offense.
  4. And here is another kicker…people who previously possessed guns that would otherwise be banned by the law can still own them if they are registered with the state prior to Jan. 1, 2024. Yeah, two weeks away.
  5. The case was already appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court, a radical leftist court, and the ban/registry was upheld.
  6. The US 7th District U.S. Court of Appeals panel, staffed by another cabal of rabidly leftist judges, upheld the ban and registry.
  7. The case before SCOTUS was for a ‘preliminary injunction’ to stop the ban/registry while the formal case was prepared for presentation to SCOTUS. SCOTUS refused to hear it…meaning the ban/registry stays in place.

The ‘Axis of Evil’ (California, New York, & Illinois) have all attempted to violate the 2nd Amendment in the past with bans and registries, none of them stood thanks to SCOTUS. This appears to have changed with the latest SCOTUS ruling.

Now, to be fair, this doesn’t mean that SCOTUS won’t rule against this egregious anti-American and unConstitutional Illinois law at some future point in time when a formal case is presented to the court. But once again, SCOTUS wold have to actually agree to hear that case…and they didn’t agree to hear the argument for this preliminary injunction request. And that doesn’t bode especially well for any future case being overturned and the Constitution being upheld.

You would be on top of this if you were to ask about ‘grandfathering’…people who already own these guns and accessories. The draconian law does allow for previous owners to continue to possess these guns and accessories…if they register them. And for those of us that know and understand thje history of tyrants and dictators…that is a precursor to confiscation and subjugation…always violent subjugation.

And yes, once again, this is only for the State of Illinois. But, think it through…if this stands for Illinois, then California and New York will be close behind in passing their own bans/registries. Take note…those three Axis of Evil states contain ¼ of the population of the United States (73million). How long do you think it would be before those other leftist states would also move forward with their own gun bans and registries?

There are four states (Michigan, Minnesota, Maryland, & Massachusetts) that are 100% controlled by radical authoritarian leftists…another 30million population.

Then there are Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Rhode Island, Washington, and Wisconsin who are run by leftist governors. Yeah, that is another 72million population.

Add all the leftist run states and you get 175,000,000 people in 22 states. Now we are talking populations of radical leftist controlled states that amounts to almost 60% of the population of the US.

Here comes a change of direction…

We have already heard numerous reports by some pretty valid sources that if Trump is thrown in prison or found ineligible to run for office before the 2024 election…America will burn.

What happens in 2024, when the formal Illinois gun ban/registry case is supposed to be presented to SCOTUS, and that law is upheld, or maybe not even heard? Then maybe combine the two…Trump goes to prison and gun bans/registries are ruled Constitutional? Yeah, do you think America will burn then?

Do you think this gun ban issue will just happen to play out in 2024?

Do you think that Trump’s court cases just happen to play out in 2024?

Do you think that our deep financial troubles just happen to be looking as if they will deepen, possibly go nuclear, in 2024?

Do you think that the election interference in the last 2 presidential races were just practice for 2024?

Is there any wonder why the recent poll of Americans showed overwhelming agreement among the vast majority of US citizens that the 2024 presidential election will determine the fate of ‘democracy’ in America?

Strange though…the poll then splits pretty evenly when asked why ‘democracy’ will be in jeopardy. Do you think it a coincidence that Democrats think that Republicans will destroy democracy…and Republicans think Democrats will destroy democracy?

They have us exactly where they want us!!

Oddly…both Democrats and Republicans have done a really good job of getting us to this point.

So…how are those preps of yours coming along?

Oh, hey…what do you think happens if/when any of the above mentioned violence breaks out? Who exactly would be gunning down Americans trying their level best to support the Constitution and Bill of Rights? Yeah, sorry, just a thought.

 

 

 

 

 

Oh sorry…I forgot to touch on the Supreme Court being a joke. Well, let’s ask Americans…

  • In 1988 56% of American had confidence in the Supreme Court.
  • In 2022 the % fell to 25% of Americans had confidence in the Supreme Court…a drop of more than half!
  • In 2023 54% of American totally disapproved of the Supreme Court, only 36% approved, or somewhat approved.

Okay, you do the math…but ask yourself this…why do so few American approve of and have confidence in the Supreme Court?

Crime & Violence

Less than two weeks ago my wife was talking with a friend of hers and learned of a recent experience of theirs. The couple, early 60’s, were at a thrift store doing a bit of shopping. They had driven their truck and left the windows partially rolled down, but the doors were locked. Just as they were checking out they heard a scream from the vicinity of their truck.

Well, the reason they had left the windows down was to allow fresh air for their large part-golden retriever that was in the backseat of the truck. The scream…well, that was from the person that had reached in the window to unlock the door to steal some items in the front of the truck. The dog decided that wasn’t going to happen…bit the guy’s arm and held on. Hence, the scream.

The couple walked the 100’ to the truck, the wife pulled out her handgun and the husband told the dog to let the guy go. The wife then suggested to the man to lay on the ground face down…or the alternative would not be pleasant. He complied.

Police were called, arrest was made, the would be thief placed in the back of a patrol car to be hauled off to jail.

When my wife related the story to me I began to wonder a bit…what other serious crimes were taking place in our area. A few days before the truck incident a man had broken into a local house to commit a burglary. However, a woman was home…and of course the criminal just had to shoot her in the face. Thankfully the woman was not killed and is recovering.

Well, I had to keep digging…and found a whole series of serious crimes, most of them violent or with the threat of violence. I stopped my research with an incident at our local Walmart 3 years ago when a man broke into a Walmart store prior to the store opening. He held the store employees hostage at gunpoint while he attempted to steal money.

So…what did these violent crimes have in common? Yes, a criminal, obviously. But an interesting thing about all these criminals. But, before I get into that let me share with you an interesting statistic…the two adjoining towns where the handful of crimes took place has a combined population of 11,000 people and located about 1-1/2 hours from any city of any notable size. The combined dual-town population is about 16% of the average NFL football game attendance. Yeah, two very small towns.

So the common denominator…the criminals all had Hispanic names and appear to have come across the southern border illegally.

What was the crime rate before 2020 in those two small towns…virtually nothing.

So next time you hear the politicians in Washington, or the whole list of agency heads, talk about how secure the border is…think about the 10’s of thousands of serious violent crimes taking place each year by illegal aliens. Everything from rapes of young children, murders of teenagers, drunk drivers killing entire families, not to mention the thefts and drug industry…all at the hands of illegal aliens.

But I am not done yet…

One day last week we heard of two incidents of a slightly different nature. Incident #1, a distant neighbor had a visit from county ‘code enforcement’. The family is building a small house out in the middle of nowhere on 40acres. They had a well drilled, solar system built, septic tank system installed, and were finishing up the inside of their home. They were expecting to move in about 2 weeks from now. Oh noooooooo! The county employee posted a ‘cease and desist’ letter to stop the building and prevent them from moving into their home. Why? They hadn’t asked the county for permission to build their home.

Incident #2 was the next day. Another distant neighbor received an order to vacate his home. Yeah, he had the nerve to be living in a large, well-built, comfortable, secure, and rather nice camper. You see county employees don’t think people should be living like that…so he too is being kicked out of his home.

Two families are now becoming homeless based on a county employee whim…albeit, based on a county ordnance. In addition to two families now homeless…I would estimate that the total combined financial loss for them to be about $200,000 or so. And if they violate the county’s demands…heavily armed men will show up and will throw them in jail. Or, if there is any resistance to that action they could end up shot.

Now here is a question for you…well, maybe a couple…

1 – To hijack a biblical term…wherein lies the great sin? A criminal, at the threat of violence/death steals from people…or government stooges taking people’s homes and money from them at the threat of violence/death from heavily armed men?

2 – It is obvious that we should not tolerate criminal activity. But, why do we tolerate such behavior when the dimwits are from the government?

Let me close with a thought…in the Declaration of Independence there is the phrase:

“…all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness—That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed…”

Most of us understand the whole life and liberty thing pretty well. But, the pursuit of happiness part sometimes is not clearly understood. Most informed scholars agree that ‘happiness’ as Jefferson intended it is this… the goal of virtue and excellence in our personal and civic lives because that is the foundation of liberty which frees us from enslavement. The specific virtues, according to Jefferson, are primarily courage, moderation, and justice. And remember this…who had enslaved the colonists when Jefferson was writing this? The tyrannical British government.

The Declaration of Independence was pretty clear on what our God-given rights were…basically, to be left alone from government interference in our lives. That is the life and liberty part. But how does the happiness thing work into it? We have to treat each other with moderation, we have to understand what true justice is…and we must have courage to defend our rights…our God-given rights.

Notice that governments only have legal power when it is granted by the consent of the governed. Notice that both of these families lost…due to nothing more than an ‘ordnance’ passed by some group of county employees based on their opinions and bias.

Finally, here is a part of that Declaration of Independence that virtually ALL politicians and most people are totally ignorant of (or choose to ignore), “…That to secure these Rights…” is the mission of government. So tell me…how did our county government secure these folks rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness?

Hell, when was the last time ANY level of government anywhere do anything to secure these basic God-given rights for anyone?

Yeah, I thought so!

Maybe politicians need to be reminded of the whole entire purpose of the Declaration of Independence…and how that turned out.
