- So we had massive protests and demonstrations against deportations of criminal illegal aliens.
- Then some of the demonstrations, and some of the participants, turned violent and destructive.
- LA police and Sheriffs were caught off-guard and had a hard time handling the violence.
- Trump was wrong to by-pass the Governor when activating the California National Guard, that is out of protocol and sets a very dangerous precedence.
- Trump calling in active duty US military personnel to act as law enforcement is completely and totally inappropriate for this situation.

- Trump’s birthday military parade smacked of the clown shows of USSR, North Korea, etc.
- And there were hundreds of “No Kings” protests around the country opposing Trump and the military parade deepening the divide in the country.
- Israel started another war…hitting Iran, then hitting them again.
- Netanyahu played Trump for a fool and dragged Trump (and thus, us) into the war.
- North Korea fires rockets into South Korea and its mostly ignored.
- Trump now says he is ready and willing to enter the Israel/Iran war…but he hasn’t finally decided…but he has approved the plans.
- Republicans and the right-wingers are now split over the idea of going to war with Iran.
- Israel and the US are running low on interceptor missiles.
Yeah, I know…there is more than just this list going on. But, I had to draw the line somewhere.
Let me be clear on one subject:
- The folks violently protesting in LA are not good people…for the most part.
- Their violence and property destruction is not the right way to go about voicing their cause and gaining support.

- Their cause is not justified, but it is theirs, and they are passionate about it.
- They are criminals if they are not peacefully protesting and demonstrating.
- This is a local matter…the city of LA first, county second, state of California third.
- This is a matter for law enforcement to handle.
- If the federal agencies who occupy that federal building want more protection, there are plenty of federal law enforcement agencies to call in.
Moving on…What’s my point to all of the above? We are a mess domestically and we are a real, real mess globally. And just what the world needed…another war. And one that the US is all too willing to be involved in.
Here’s a question for you…
If Israel attacks Iran because they are afraid that Iran will attack Israel…ah, what the hell does that have to do with us? If Israel wants to start that war, well, let them…but the US needs to stay the hell out of that war…it is NOT our fight. And why is Trump talking about the US forcing an Iranian regime change!?!?
Let me digress…
Is anyone actually asking why Trump thought it was a good idea to put active duty military on the streets of LA in a domestic law enforcement capacity?
Oh wait, try this on…
If demonstrators and protesters in LA are now qualifying as “rebellion” and “insurrection”…then what were those folks who attacked and broke into the US capital building AND injured capitol police?
Ever hear the metaphor, “What’s good for the goose is good for the gander?”
But nothing to see here, move along…nice to know that anytime a President calls rioters and demonstrators rebels and insurrectionists then we can sleep well knowing there are tanks rolling down US streets. Nice…
Oh wait, what do vets have to say about it?
“Former Army. Unrest is when the citizens are trying to send a message to the government. Using troops against your citizens is the government’s way of not listening.”
“Marine here. (Once a Marine, always.) Iraq vet. I definitely do not agree with using the Marines.”
“USAF veteran. We swear an oath to the Constitution. Not to any regime, party, or person.”
“Trump is creating his Reichstag fire. Take the time to look this up if you aren’t familiar with it.”
“As a vet, I will say it comes across as totalitarian. There is no reason to use active duty military against your own citizens. There’s a great quote from Battlestar Galactica: ‘The police and the military have always been separate for a reason. One serves and protects the people, the other fights enemies of the state. When the military does both, the enemies of the state tend to become the people.'”
“Honorably discharged Army veteran here (Gulf War era). I can say that I and my fellow vet friends think that these troop deployments are fucking terrible. Horrifying, actually.”
“I’m not active, but former military. I think it’s wrong. It’s an overreach on presidential power. Plus, it’s hard enough getting the everyday American to support our troops these days without deploying them to attack our own civilians.”
“Former Army here — it’s complete bullshit. Let law enforcement enforce the law, let the military do military operations. To be honest, they were waiting for any reason to do this because they want to ‘send a message,’ but the message that’s sent isn’t what they think it is.”
“Retired Navy here and also a former Marine. Sending an infantry battalion (2/7) to assist the LAPD and the National Guard is the wrong move.”
“It’s an accident waiting to happen.”
Wait a second…I am a vet too! What do I have to say about it? Ah, Trump acted more like a petty banana republic dictator
in regards to the Marines deployed to the LA protests/demonstrations/riots than the leader of a Constitutional Republic. Then again, when was the last time the USA even remotely looked, or acted, like the Constitutional Republic that our Founding Fathers established?
You know I thought about Trump’s birthday military parade and its $45+million price tag. And I thought about real leadership, real action, and real results/outcomes. What do you think if Trump would have made the decision to take that $45million dollars and put it into a fund to help prevent veteran suicides that are at an all-time high. And since Trump likes to brag about being very, very rich -a billionaire- what if he had matched the $45million with his own $45million into that fund. And then Trump could have encouraged all his rich
friends to do the same. WOW!!!! Think about that…a fund with over $100million in it to help vets avoid suicide. Now that would have been leadership and good moral character!!!!!
But, didn’t all that military hardware and all those fancy folks marching just impress the hell out of you…for about 3 mins!?! Didn’t Trump look all pretty saluting those troops and tanks?
People…let me ask you this…Do you see what is happening? Do you see where we are headed?
Let me help you a bit…
Israel expends 2 – 4 interceptor missiles for each Iranian missile or drone. What happens when Israel gets critically low on those interceptors? Yeah, no…the US is already running very low on our own interceptor missiles…then what does Israel do when their supply is critically low? What’s their next step?
When Trump pulls the trigger and strikes Iran…what do you think Iran does? Then of course…what is Trump’s reaction to Iran’s reaction?
Oh, did I forget to mention Putin has already warned Trump not to strike Iran directly. So then what does Russia do?
Oh, if Russia takes action then what does North Korea do? Oh, sorry… North Korea is already doing something; do they escalate?
In closing…
- Do you think seeing US military patrolling on US streets as law enforcement has anything to do with military spectacle we just saw in Washington?
- Do you think the military spectacle we just saw in Washington has anything to do with us on the verge of war with Iran?
- Why do you think that Trump is now so enamored with the military, its capabilities, being caught off-guard by Israel (or was he), and Trump now directly threatening Iran and calling for regime change?
I guess it begs the question…why is the US so in love with funding and waging war? Maybe the answer is really, really simple…who benefits financially from all this war?
I do have an idea…all those in favor of bombing, striking, or joining Israel in their war with Iran, JOIN UP! Yup, join the military and go fight the war. If you are too old or incapable of joining, then drive your children down to the recruiter’s office to join up. Or, just go over there with your AR-15 and attack Iran yourself. Back up your beliefs with action…stand up for what you believe in!!!
What is a more appropriate solution? Pray! Pray that Trump’s heart will be softened, that his mind will be turned to Constitutional rights, liberties, freedoms, legal concepts, and peace. Pray that Trump will embrace the spirit of our
Founding Father’s and their wisdom. Pray that those active duty military, the federalized National Guard, and law enforcement will act with extreme restraint and allow rights, liberties and freedom to rule the day.
Pray that Iran and Israel will quit killing each other’s citizens. Pray that our country will break the cycle of our lust for war.
But most of all..pray for our country’s leadership. Then they came for…
