250 years + 2 days = the world changed

The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, marked the armed beginning of the American Revolutionary War. That was 250 years and 2 days ago…a point in history that is incredible.

Technically the battles were fought in Middlesex County in colonial Massachusetts; including the towns of Lexington, Concord, Lincoln, Menotomy, and Cambridge. And these battles, starting with Lexington, are considered the official start of the armed American fight for independence from the oppression and tyranny of the British Empire.

What was the reason that the hostilities broke out on that day in those places between British soldiers and local militias? Gun rights mostly, but also the right of people to defend themselves. Let’s put it into more modern terms to help understand the context of the war’s beginning.

Local militias were made up of local (community, town, village) residents. These militias were designed mostly to protect local residents from criminals and Indians. Militia members were armed with modern weapons of their day, muskets, shotguns (fowling piece), pistols, knives, swords, and tomahawks. Militias were mostly found outside of large cities.

The British Empire Army was professional and full-time; their job was to act as agents of the British King protecting colonial America from the French and Indians. The British Army also functioned as a law enforcement agency; more precisely, they were what we would consider federal law enforcement such as the ATF, DEA, FBI, IRS, etc. At the time the British army was the largest, best armed, and most professional and effective fighting force in the world.

The Battle of Lexington was not a surprise at the time; there was no sudden outbreak of armed conflict between Colonial Patriots and the British Army. The “conflict” had been going on for decades…but left mostly to politicians. The oppression and tyranny of the British government, primarily through taxation and regulations/laws, had been steadily increasing. And the more that the colonists tried to work out a reasonable solution with the British government, the more regulations and taxation was heaped upon the colonialists by the British Empire.

The British also noticed that the strength and numbers of local militias was growing, and the British rulers felt these militias began to challenge the ability of the British army to act as law enforcement and control the people. The actual Battle of Lexington wasn’t much of a battle, more like a slaughter. 700 – 800 British soldiers showed up in the small town of Lexington, the local militia company of about 77 men gathered to represent the town and show defiance against the British operation. Why “defiance”?

The British didn’t like the idea of people defending their own towns, protecting themselves from criminals and Indians…and defying the edicts issued by the British government. The British government decided it was time that the militias were disbanded and people disarmed, and this British law enforcement action was the start of it.

In modern terms it would be like a combined force of heavily armed ATF and FBI SWAT teams showing up to take guns away from the local population…and the local residents saying “no” and showing up to show their defiance. And it is important to know, vital actually, the militia members were under strict orders from their leaders to not fire on the British unless they were fired upon first. Meaning, they were only to defend themselves if the British started to kill them.

Well, the British wouldn’t stand for this challenge against their power and authority…the British soldiers opened fire and left 10% of the militia members dead on the town’s green. More militia members were injured but escaped. Later, some of those injured were found by British soldiers and either shot or stabbed to death with bayonets.

Immediately the call went out to other towns and communities that the British had started the war that later would be know as the Fight for Independence…or more commonly known as the American Revolution. Throughout the day, April 19th, running battles between the British Army and locals militias took place. The British paid a heavy price that day with their blood, and they realized they had awakened a spirit of patriotism and determination they didn’t expect.

The war for American independence raged for almost a decade till the Colonialists finally won. They won against all odds, defeated the greatest, most powerful, largest, most professional, full-time army in the world. Our fore-fathers won because they had grit, they had courage, they had a burning desire to be free of tyranny, oppression, free from crushing laws/regulations, and free from debilitating taxes.

These brave men and women wanted to control their own lives, not suffer at the hands of a government whose lust for power and money made the people suffer. “We the People” was born!

My 2025 Easter Message

He is risen!

He lives.

Hear Him.

Come unto Him.

I miss him…

It’s been one year ago today that Sparky passed on…

This was him in 2019. He was helping me build our house. Just before I took this picture he had been playing around the building site, dirty as all get out, and he was so happy to just be…yeah, just to be.

I was living alone in a cabin (less than 300sq’) without water, no toilette, no shower, no stove, pretty much just roughing it. He was my companion the whole time…a faithful one. He was so patient and loving…a God-send. Every morning I would wake up with him curled up laying behind my knees.

There is so much more to say but I just can’t today.

I miss him.

The Dance : All the loser Dems/Liberals…

I couldn’t help myself…

Happy Thanksgiving !

You could look at the world today and find a lot wrong with it. You could see it as dark and dreary with people who mean you and our country harm. You could easily recognize evil around virtually every corner.

But today…let our hearts and minds be turned to all that is good in the world, all that makes us smile, all that brings us joy…let that be our goal today. Let us be thankful for all our blessings and tender mercies, let us be thankful for family. Most of all…let us be thankful for our Heavenly Father and his son Jesus Christ. For it is in them that true joy and peace can be found.

Join with your family this day, tell them and show them that you love them. Smile and wave to your neighbor. Call your best friend and tell them how much they mean to you.

Most of all this day…just simply be thankful.

It happens Wednesday !

Yup, decision made, action to be taken. Tuesday evening/night or Wednesday morning I will be deleting all of the current website subscribers as I talked about in my article “The time has come…”. I think it is the best way to start clean with folks who really want to be involved in the website.

What that means is…if you want to continue to get emails notifying you of new articles/posts you will need to subscribe again. I apologize for the inconvenience but I can’t think of a better solution to keeping only those folks who want to be here.

I am also clarifying within myself as to the ‘new’ direction of the website. Now, for clarity sake…it won’t change drastically. Time will tell if the change was the right thing to do. But I know for sure I want to get back to more of what I love to write about.

Current events are always interesting to me…but I don’t see people being that interested in my opinion on what is happening. I will still comment on things/events/issues/people that I see are dangerous or threatening. But the long, in-depth posts hopefully will be a thing of the past.

One thing I want to see more of is people asking me questions. Yup, questions that they would like to hear my take on. Questions on what? Anything. From gardening to tactics, from politics to solar…and anything/everything in between…ask away. I think that would keep the site far more interesting and focused. But that will require participation from ya’ll.

And lastly…I would love more people to do more commenting on posts. I want to hear what you guys have to say!

Faith & Prayer Proceeds the Miracle !

It appears that Trump has defeated Harris and will become the next President of the United States…barring any unforeseen problems.

All of the prayers from the faithful…and good people turning out to vote…have ensured that the radical leftist Harris won’t be the next President. Thank you to all of you that have been praying these last few months and asking God for a miracle.

It also looks as if Trump will have the help of a Republican controlled Senate. That will help immensely in getting his choice of people approved in various positions in his administration. It is also vital to ensure a chance at decent judge appointments…maybe even another Supreme Court Justice.

He may yet also have the help of a Republican controlled House of Representatives…but that is still somewhat in question until the final tallies are done. Please pray for no corruption in that process.

Now, even with the apparent win last night:

  • Don’t stop praying for God’s will to be done.
  • Pray for calm, peace, and unity in our divided country.
  • Pray for us to get out of the wars around the world and become a peace loving people not a war mongering people.
  • Pray for Trump’s safety, health, and humility as he goes forward to correct the course of our country.
  • And please, please pray for no violence in the US…no violence for any reason.
  • Finally, in your prayers thank God for His hand of tender mercies.

Thank you God…and may we now have God’s blessings upon the United States of America.

What next?

This is a follow-up to my last SitRep…in a way. In July I started feeling a bit off; can’t describe it really, just off. By mid-August I knew something was wrong but just couldn’t put my finger on it. Then late-August I wrote the article “I’m done with it!” Early in September I felt kinda burned-out, off my game, a bit grouchy if you asked my wife. So, for the last 3 – 4 weeks I’ve backed away from the news and current events…for the most part. I really concentrated on getting a long list of “to-do’s” done here on the glamstead.

Yeah, I did my research for the SitRep yesterday and a couple posts before; but, I stayed far away from current events compared to what I use to. Last week on Monday I planted 13 pine trees, Tuesday I planted twenty-four 1/2-gal Buffalo grass plugs and twenty-five pint Buffalo grass plugs, Wednesday I planted 2 larger pine trees, Thursday I fertilized and watered them in really well…again. Last Friday I babysat our new older 100# German Shepard / Anatolian Shepard mix while my wife got a new car stereo installed at Best Buy and had a girl-day with our neighbor. It was a good week.

What does any of that have to do with anything?

Let me digress for a minute. Let me make this simple…the world has gone to shit crap. The economy is in the tank and probably can’t recover. The political divide in the country has reached the violence stage…including multiple assassination attempts on a Presidential candidate. We have been invaded by millions and millions of criminals including violent gang members, Muslim terrorists, Chinese military age men, and people from cultures that are completely incompatible with western values. Crime and violence in the country has skyrocketed and touches every aspect of American life. And worst of all…the US federal government is behind almost all of it, and directly or indirectly responsible. Plain and simple…the global elites with their globalist authoritarian agenda are winning.

Oh sorry, there is also the very real threat of a direct war with Iran…and an already existing war between Iran and Israel. Oh sorry, and the on-going war between Ukraine/NATO/USA and Russia. Oh sorry, and now the potential crippling of the US economy by a dock worker’s strike. Odd, all of that happening right before a Presidential election that is anything but free and fair. Hummmmm, I wonder about that timing…right before the election?????

And quite honestly I am tired of writing about it. I feel there is little if anything I can write about regarding current events that can add to what you already know…or that would make any difference to you. And…it is extremely depressing researching all the different current event topics because it is coming at us almost by the hour now. And…there is not a single group, a single person, a single entity that is doing anything to improve it…or even trying to slow it down from getting worse…that can actually do so.

I find that working every day to improve the glamstead or helping others is the only thing that keeps me balanced. What I did enjoy immensely was the post, with video, I did on the water tank install way back in June. That was really fun to do! I am not sure how helpful it was to folks, but I sure enjoyed it.

I have reviewed the articles/posts on the website that I have put up over the last 10 years and I honestly don’t know what else I can share with you. I have covered every aspect of prepping that I can think is important. I have gone into detail on every important aspect of prepping that makes sense…and I don’t want to just repeat myself for the sake of postings.

So, if I can’t really come up with new material for prepper articles and writing about current events is a waste of time…what do I write about for you?

Granted, there have been times I’ve written an article just for my own purposes, usually to get something off my chest or to make a point. But those were far and few between for the most part.

So here’s my dilemma; 1) write current event articles that you already are aware of giving little to no additional useful information other than my opinion, 2) write repetitive and useless prepper articles give you no useful additional knowledge, 3) write posts (maybe produce videos) about what we are doing on the glamstead (i.e. gardening, solar, water systems, orchards, compost, etc.) 4) or, just wait till something comes along worth writing about regardless of the subject. Well, I guess there could be another option…just let the website coast along with nothing new at all.

What do you guys think? I am serious, I need your input and feedback on what you would like to see here. I know your time each day is limited and valuable…so I don’t want you to waste it here with little to no value as to what you are reading of mine.

What would you like me to do?

What do you want to see with the site?

Please complete the survey, it will be a great guide to help make decisions and to know how many people put actual value on the website.

You can also send me a private message/email with your suggestions/thoughts…or better yet, post a comment on this page with whatever you are thinking. Everyone’s thoughts, suggestions, questions, and input mean a lot to me. Please give me food for thought.
