SitRep – 1/11/2017

I’ve been watching the events of the last couple of weeks very closely and I knew something was unfolding. Now I am convinced. I started to call this post a “Warning!” but then decided against it because the potential for a violent outcome to individuals still seems fairly low to me so I changed it to just an “Alert”. Although I feel both the probability and possibility are very high. So exactly what I am referring to? Ah, that is a great question.

Please remember and take into consideration…this is only my opinion based on the facts and evidence that I am seeing.

Threat –

There is a very specific threat that has formed and it entails Trump, the intelligence agencies, the ruling class, and the media. I think we are seeing the groundwork laid for either an assassination attempt, a soft coup, or the foundation of Trump’s future impeachment taking place.

Background –

The CIA has been an organization working against Constitutional principles since its very foundation. The CIA is a dark ops group. They are mandated to operate solely on foreign soil, but reports over the last couple of decades have revealed they regularly operate on US soil…against US citizens. They are trained to disrupt elections in foreign countries and/or influence them in favor of the US. They are also well-trained to overthrow, violent or otherwise, governments of sovereign nations. Along with being drug dealers they are also some of the best trained assassins in the world. But, most of all…they are the best trained masters of deception in the world. In other words…they are everything decent people, people of morals, ethics and character should abhor.

The NSA has one of the most checkered and dark reputations of any US intel agency. They have conducted numerous surveillance operations against US citizens over the last 15+ years in direct violation of the law and Constitution. They operate with virtually no legal or Congressional oversight allowing much of their operational activities to go unmonitored, unsupervised, and wholly outside of the Constitution.

The FBI’s reputation is well known and well documented. They are nothing more than a dark ops agency to accomplish two things; 1) act as an enforcement arm for whichever political party is in power, 2) grow and ensure the power of the federal government. They have conducted horrendous acts of political subterfuge over the years to influence elections and destroy political enemies. This has been thoroughly documented even as late as the last eight years where the FBI worked closely with the IRS targeting conservative and constitutional groups in direct violation of the law. But, all of that activity pales in comparison to the FBI’s record of death. Whether it is the murder of a restrained suspect in custody, to the murder of a wife/mother and infant, to the burning to death of nearly 80 men, women, and children. They latest example of their death squad activity was the murder of Levoy Finicum last year. Not only did they plan and lead the fatal ambush, they attempted to cover-up their participation when it was discovered that FBI agents lied about what happened.

The Director of National Intelligence, while only a relatively recent government position, is quickly becoming the man behind the curtain. In this case, James Clapper. This man is one of the most powerful men in America at this time…and he is using his power and position for unbelievable acts of evil. He has removed himself from any and all oversight of Congress. He has repeatedly lied to Congress or withheld vital information relative to Congressional inquiries. And, he is still serving in that position let alone not in prison. Clapper has proven over and over again he is working in direction opposition to not only the best interests of citizens, but in direct opposition to the Constitution as well.

What do all of these agencies have in common? None of them are authorized by the Constitution.
So, why do they exist? Ah, that is another great question.

Recent Events –

The Ft. Lauderdale airport massacre was at the hands of whom? According to the government and law enforcement agencies it was a mentally ill, Puerto Rican, veteran, gun nut, suffering from PTSD. But, is that true?

Let me ask this question first…Why was Senator Bill Nelson (D-Florida) the person to first identify the gunman who conducted this the atrocity? Have you ever known of a sitting US Senator to be the first to name a shooting suspect ever in any kind of similar situation as this, and do it at a press conference? Not me. So, why him, why then?

The White House was aware of who the suspect really was, the WH directed Nelson how to frame the suspect, and then to direct local law enforcement to go along with it. And it almost worked.
The first day after the shooting I was receiving intelligence that the suspect was a Muslim and this was a planned terrorist attack. But, I couldn’t come out with any evidence proving it. Yesterday it was leaking out that the shooter was indeed a Muslim. Today we saw proof released that the suspect was in-fact a Muslim terrorist who was known by intelligence agencies. Yet another known Muslim terrorist living in the USA and the FBI and other intel agencies didn’t stop the attack. Kind of makes you ask…Are they that incompetent or is it something else?

Yesterday we started to hear all the BS about Trump and his “pervert” ties to Russia. Why yesterday when according to reports intelligence agencies have known about this for some time? The “Why?” question is the absolute right question to ask. But, before we go into the answer…
Trump won the election, so there was the scandal that the FBI won the election for Trump due to the Hillary email info released by the FBI days before the end of the election. When that didn’t change anything, then there was the push for multiple state recounts. When that didn’t work there was the “popular vote” controversy. When that didn’t work there was the Electoral College revolt attempt. When that didn’t work it was Russia influenced the election through hacking. When that didn’t work it was the Russia hacked the election in favor of Trump because Trump was the Russian candidate. When that didn’t work then it was this…the Trump pervert report that he was being blackmailed by the Russians.

And in the middle of all of this Congress tried to investigate what was happening and what did the intelligence agencies do? They refused to answer questions by Congress and even refused to appear at Congressional hearings for a very long time.

While all of this is going on Obama quietly slips into regulation and policy that DHS is now an overseer of all local elections. This was done via DHS classifying the entire voting process as “critical infrastructure.”

What Does It All Mean –

I kept going over and over all these seemingly unrelated events…dots if you will. At first I came to the conclusion that it was meant to discredit the election of Trump and set him up for failure. But, if that was the case, why not just swing the election results to a win for Hillary.

But, there was a nagging question…What would that have accomplished? I couldn’t come up with a logical response for that question. Then I remembered the underlying question when dealing with all things governmental and political…”Who will get money and power?

When put that into context it became crystal clear what was happening. Let me put this back in your head, “Never let a crisis go to waste.” Remember that?

This defining principle was inadvertently revealed by a mid-level player in the Anti-America Movement (AAM). He shed light on how they do business…by simply giving people what they want at a time when people are crying out for it. In the last 17 years it was been the demand by people for “safety & security.” So, the AAM folks gave us DHS, TSA, militarized police, and a whole slew of illegal, unconstitutional policies and laws that destroyed citizens’ rights, liberties, and freedoms.

Let me connect the dots…Dems lost the election and even the slightest amount of political power in DC due to Republications now controlling the Presidency, the Senate, and the House of Representatives. But, if the Repubs, specifically Trump, is dealing with all-consuming controversies even his power is significantly reduced, if not negated.

So, Dems are losing and Trump is caught up in turmoil and controversy. You have tremendous in-fighting within the Repub party. You have war-mongering Repubs like the degenerate McCain and Graham calling for war with Russia. You have many Dems joining in that call due to the election results at the hands of Russian hacking. You have Ryan and his Progressive co-conspirators ready to spend trillions and trillions of dollars in opposition to Trump’s plans. Everything is in complete turmoil…and we haven’t even touched on race relations and long list of other burning issues right now.

I still haven’t really answered the question…who benefits from all of this? In other words…To whom does the money and power flow?

Collectively both the money and power flow to the intelligence agencies (i.e. CIA, FBI, NSA, etc.) With Russia being such a “threat” we need more resources to investigate them. To ensure that our voting machines and process isn’t compromised we need more resources to shore them up. With our entire country being hacked by foreign governments we need more resources to combat that. And in governmental terms “resources” means money. And when dealing with these agencies we are talking hundreds and hundreds of billions of dollars of new money flowing to them. But, it also means far more power to perform surveillance on not just all US citizens but to seize control of every aspect of the Internet and the voting process is the name of “security.”

Summary –

Remember power is not created, it can only move. In virtually every case over the last 130 years power has moved away from individuals citizens and to an ever stronger federal government. Money is similar…money has been moving from the middle-class to the rich class and to the poverty class via the US government.

Who leaked the info that swung the election away from Hillary? The FBI. Then who came out and said that they wouldn’t pursue Hillary? The FBI. Who came out with the report that Russia hacked and influenced the election? The Director of National Intelligence. Who produced the report substantiating that statement? The CIA and DHS. And when that wasn’t convincing enough who produced the report that substantiated the previous report? The FBI. And all of that without ever actually laying their hands on the allegedly hacked server!

I believe that we are seeing a well coordinated, well executed covert operation by US intelligence agencies to create chaos. The short-term goal is to acquire more money for their collective agencies. Along with the money comes power. The medium term goal is clear…a totalitarian state.

Doubt me? What happened to President Kennedy? The CIA convinced him to invade Cuba. Then the CIA subverted that operation and significantly weakened Kennedy politically. When Kennedy threatened to reform, if not disband, the CIA he was assassinated. Why Kennedy? It didn’t matter that it was Kennedy. Outgoing President Eisenhower warned us about the rise of the military-industrial complex which includes the ruling class and elites. Kennedy wouldn’t play along with their goals. The CIA destroyed him…literally. We then got President Johnson…the consummate political establishment insider who was 100% behind the AAM and overall goal of a totalitarian state.

Back in college I took “logic” classes…phenomenal stuff! Over the last 40 years I learned that you judge what is happening by “outcomes” because nothing else matters. Not only that, anything other than “outcomes” can be very deceiving. I also learned a couple of decades ago that politics and government was all about money and power as virtually the sole motivation
Marry the three concepts and what do all of the events add up to?

We are seeing one of three possible events taking place; 1) assassination attempt, 2) a soft coup, or 3) the foundation of an impeachment proceeding taking place. Why? To move more money and power to intelligence agencies. And US intelligence agencies are nothing more than the oppressive boot for the AAM folks moving us closer to a totalitarian state.

And, I do want to mention that in the coming days, maybe weeks, more information will come to light that substantiates what I am saying. This is a terrible time right now in America’s history…and most of us have no idea how truly ugly it really is right now. And yes, it will get worse.

What Do You Do –

Normally at this point I would say, “Keep doing what you are doing and don’t panic?” That message is only half-applicable this time. The half that is completely applicable is “don’t panic.” This is not a call to head to your bunker and seal the door behind you.
This is a call to expedite some things. However, I don’t know which things you need to expedite. But, I will suggest some things such as:

  1. Ensure that your weapons and optics are 100% serviceable. You have plenty of ammunition on hand, batteries are new or fully charged. You have a sufficient number of good quality magazines on hand and that everything is easily accessed in a hurry. I would go so far as to suggest that you load a few magazines and store them with each of your weapons. Make sure your tactical kit is 100% ready for action.
  2. Check, update, and round-out all of your medical and first aid kits. Get them 100% up to speed and ready to be used.
  3. If you have a prepper group, meet. Talk about current events, come up with immediate action drills, SOPs, Communication protocols, etc. If you aren’t part of a group consider joining one or starting one. Organize along the lines of the Incident Command System.
  4. Check all of your communications gear and ensure that it is all fully functional. Finishing any programming that needs to be done. Check to make sure you have fresh or fully charged batteries ready.
  5. Lay in a supply of drinking water. I suggest a minimum of 20 gallons per person. Your hot water tank can serve as part of that. If you don’t have a highly portable water filter, get one. If you don’t have a volume water filter, get one.
  6. If you don’t have food storage, get some. Make sure you have sufficient food for a minimum of 90-days. I would highly suggest that you have 10 – 20 days low preparation, highly portable food on hand.
  7. Make sure you can live at your house for a minimum of 30 days without power, water, or sewer services. Make sure that you could leave your home and take the essentials of survival with you.

Why do I feel that this is so vital and important at this time? I feel an event horizon is 95%+ possible and 90%+ probable. That is the highest that I have ever rated the potential of something like this. The only real question that I have is the potential for a violent affect on the average person. I can’t quite get a good feel for that in this case. What I mean is…I don’t think the average person’s life is imminently threatened by any of the three potential events that I see happening. I could be wrong and I am sure there could/will be exceptions, but, I think the average person won’t be the victim of violence due to any of the three. But, I could be very wrong.

The only way to handle any threat/risk is to reduce the probability of the incident occurring and/or reducing the severity of the outcome of the incident. Since the average person can’t affect the probability of occurrence in any way, there is only one other option. There are a number of things you can do to reduce the impact severity of an incident and I list the priorities this way, the threat or risk of:

  1. Violence
  2. Injury or sickness
  3. Poor, or lack of, organization
  4. Poor, or lack of, communications
  5. Dehydration
  6. Exposure
  7. Dehydration

If all goes as the intelligence agencies plan the average citizen will not even recognize what is happening. We will collectively just enjoy the next basketball game or Dancing with the Stars episode. However, if something goes wrong with their intended plan, it could get very ugly. And then there is the wildcard…the psychopath Obama coming to the end of his term.

And once again, as I started out this article…this is only my opinion based on the facts and evidence that I am seeing.

Remember, “If ye are prepared ye shall not fear!”

FAQ – 5/29/2017

  • Given the extreme instability of the economy, (” I am serious when I say we could wake up on any given morning and find ourselves at war externally or internally. Either event will immediately tank the stock markets and therefore the economy.”), what do you recommend we do with our savings, investments and retirement accounts?

I am no financial advisor of any kind or of any sort. I am just a guy trying to get by…and maybe ahead a little bit. I am a big believer in diversity…after preparedness. What I mean by that is pretty simple…all preparedness mitigation efforts come first. So unless you have mitigated the 7 Common Risks/Threats (violence, injury/sickness, communications, organization, dehydration, exposure, and starvation) I don’t think any other investments are important, or should get your attention or your money. I have been blessed enough to have mitigated the 7 Common Risks/Threats to the point I feel is adequate. Once that was done then I moved into tax deferred investments (IRA, 401K, TSP, etc.). And for that I diversify using mutual funds. Since my wife and I both have those opportunities I diversify our combined accounts as if they were one. I like stock-based mutual funds, and I like Fidelity the best with Vanguard right up there was well. I go for no-load, low-fee funds that have proven themselves to be winner’s year-after-year. And I throw in there the best newer fund as well that is performing the best. Then I am a big believer in precious metals. I think 10 – 15% is a good figure for us. But, I don’t think that a gold IRA is a good idea where the gold is kept in someone else’s vault. Oh, I almost forgot…life insurance. Life insurance is to replace loss of income to the survivors…nothing else! The best way to do that is with term life insurance. Whole-life or universal life are only designed to make money for insurance companies and agents. Yes, that means they screw the consumer by selling whole/universal life insurance…period! Since my wife is now minimally dependent on my income I have little life insurance. If I was 30 with 4 kids I would probably have a minimum of $500,000 of term life insurance. That would cost about $30 a month. Once I have all those bases covered I go back and start over making sure each aspect is correctly funded and proportioned. Everyone’s situation is different, so make sure you are doing a plan for yourself. Also, I am no advisor…that is painfully clear.

One thing that needs mentioning because it is very important. At the top of the savings/investment list is this…an emergency fund. The absolute bare minimum amount should be a month’s worth of expense sitting in cash in your home. I am far more comfortable with being able to cover 3 months. And ultimately I think 6 months worth of cash saved is the correct amount. Notice I said “cash”…I like to see that amount in cash safely hidden at home.

  • What about the FBI? You seem to have a real case against them but I don’t get it. Do you have any recent proof that they are corrupt?

Really?
1. Last year they actively worked to influence the Presidential election.
2. They illegally influenced the DoJ to not prosecute Hillary Clinton even though the FBI Director clearly and repeatedly said Hillary broke the law, which jeopardized national security.
3. The FBI destroyed the laptops and hard drives of former Clinton chief of staff Cheryl Mills and ex-campaign staffer Heather Samuelson.

So let’s take #3 since it is cut and dried proof of the complete corruption of the FBI.

Background: Clinton is being investigated by the FBI for multiple violations of national security, all of which are felonies that could result in decades in prison. Mills and Samuelson have information on their laptops that confirm and validate the crimes that Clinton committed.

Action: Yet, the FBI destroyed the laptop computers, including the hard drives.

Why? The FBI stated that Clinton had committed the crimes but the DoJ also wouldn’t prosecute. So why destroy evidence? Only three possible answers:
1. The FBI was trying to conceal evidence that proved the seriousness of Clinton’s crimes was far worse than they stated to the public.
2. The FBI didn’t want any other investigative agency to be able to review the laptops and hard drives for any additional evidence linking Clinton and/or Obama to even more crimes and violations of national security…and who know what else.
3. The FBI is just a bunch of bungling idiots.

Now, you might say…the FBI was done with their investigation and found nothing on the laptops so they simply destroyed them. Well…really? Why wouldn’t the FBI simply return the laptops to the owners if they didn’t contain anything of importance?

Clearly, unmistakably, undeniably, the FBI was covering-up either Clinton’s crimes or trying to prevent any possibility that any other investigation could review that evidence. The FBI was covering their tracks and protecting the Clintons and probably Obama as well. This is yet more clear evidence that the FBI is morally bankrupt and utterly corrupt.

But, challenge me on this…What other possible reason would the FBI have to destroy evidence in an investigation regarding multiple violations of national security? Did you come up with any other even remotely plausible answer? Yeah, I didn’t think so.

  • Do you think Trump is doing a good job as President? (updated January 2019)

Nope. I think he is failing as a President…failing very badly.

#1 – He is a divisive figure and polarizing the country with his attitude and actions. A successful leader unites people behind a common vision. Trump is not doing that and has no desire to do so. And that statement will tick off a whole bunch of people. I don’t care, it’s an honest and objective opinion.

#2 – The federal debt has grown approximately 2Trillion dollars since Trump has been President. Shameful! And it is growing at record rates!!!

09/30/2018 21,516,058,183,180.23
09/30/2017 20,244,900,016,053.51
09/30/2016 19,573,444,713,936.79

#3 – The annual federal budget deficit is skyrocketing under Trump!! And Trump’s budget deficits are growing and the trend line is looking horrible for the American economy and especially middle and lower income Americans.

2017 $665billion
2018 $779billion
2019 $984billion (estimated)

Under Obama from 2013 – 2016 the annual average budget deficit was $546billion per year on average.

Note: And this is while the country is experiencing record high income tax increases under Trump.

#4 – Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Kavanaugh is a big-government, police-state believer. He believes in “national security” over individual rights, freedoms, and liberties.

#5 – Trump administration has not supported the Second Amendment. The Second Amendment has suffered several defeats in appellate courts and Trump administration has not defended the Second Amendment by taking those cases to the Supreme Court. The Trump administration has announced plans to ban bump stocks which is a direct blow against the Second Amendment.

#6 – Trump has not shrunk the size of the federal government.

#7 – Trump has not built the wall as he promised.

#8 – Trump has not worked to eliminate or reduce abortion.

#9 – Trump is a raging narcissist, he is nearly perfect in his own eyes and will tell the American public that at every opportunity.

#10 – He opposes the Constitution when it doesn’t suit his purposes. He is a huge believer in Civil Asset Forfeiture even though it is a direct violation of the Constitutional provision of “due process”.

#11 – The stock market is down almost 10% for 2018 under his Presidency. And the stock market under Trump is performing no better than under Obama. And Obama’s trend was up. Trump’s trend line is down.

Do I need to go on?

  • Sounds as if you don’t like Trump?

I neither like him or not. I don’t know him personally. I’ve heard he can be very engaging privately. But, then again when I met President Bush in 2002 and spoke with him he was engaging and came across as a nice guy. We know how that turned out.

  • Are we better off with Trump as President?

Better off than with whom…Hillary? Who knows, there is nothing to judge that on since I think Hilary would have been a buffoon as President and the Republican controlled Congress would have thwarted her agenda. Better off with Obama? Nah. No one could have been worse than Obama…other than maybe McCain.

  • Why have there been so few articles posted on the website in the last few months…a year or more?

I’ve been very busy the last few months. The retirement home / bug out location has kept me working hard. I was also preparing our home for sale early last year. And, I’ve been spending time finishing up a number of prepper goals.

FAQ – 5/11/2016

  • Do you trust anything the government tells us?

Do you? Tell me the last time that anything the government told us turned out to be true? I am serious, and I don’t care which political party…tell me one time that what they told us was actually true?

So, no. I don’t trust the government to tell us the truth about a single thing. I don’t think the government, politicians or bureaucrats, are capable or have a desire to tell us the truth. I was part of an incident management team. In staff meetings they easily talked about how to deceive the media and control the media to their advantage. They talked about making sure the media produced stories that made them look as good as possible to citizens/victims.

No, I don’t trust the government to tell the truth.

  • How much would you budget each payday for preparedness?

I think 10% is doable for any family. If that isn’t possible, then I think you are spending too much money on other, less important, things. I think the money set-aside in the preparedness budget is like buying insurance that you are 100% sure will eventually payoff.

  • You wrote an article about herding dogs vs. sheep dogs. What is the difference again?

Herding dogs control sheep. They bark and nip at the sheep to push them around driving them wherever they want the sheep to go. Herding dogs are predators that have been conditioned and trained to not attack the sheep. But they act like predators and the sheep fear them.

Sheep dogs are dogs that live with the flock of sheep. The sheep accept them as protectors and as part of the flock. Sheep dogs sometimes live for weeks and months at a time mixed in with the flock, sleeping, eating, and moving with the sheep. Sheep dogs will immediately react to protect the flock from predators, even given up their own life to protect the flock.

Herding dogs seldom, if ever, protect a flock and must have a dog handler (master) there to control and direct the dogs.

Yes, there is a direct correlation in life. Peace Officers are sheepdogs. Hearding dogs are law enforcement officers.

No, there are a whole lot of good people that are sheepdogs that are not Peace Officers. And there are a whole lot of herding dogs that are not cops.

  • Is the NSA a dangerous organization?

In the United States today I don’t think there is a more dangerous, anti-Constitutional, anti-American organization than the NSA. At this point I think the NSA is doing more damage, far more damage, to the United States than all other organizations, government or corporate, combined…excluding the CIA. The only other organizations that rank distantly are the CIA, the Council on Foreign Relations, and the Federal Reserve.

FAQ – 4/7/2016

  • You always seem to talk about living “grid-down” in a group, why?

It is impossible for an individual, or even a family, to survive any serious grid-down for any length of time. The wide range of skills that will be needed to survive can only be found in a group. Security alone would be a tremendous burden that even a large family would struggle to maintain for any length of time. A community of 500 – 3500 is about the right size if you have the right combination of people and skills. You have to be large enough for defensive purposes, but not too large to be burdensome to the land and each other.

  • How do you justify your so-called religious beliefs with your emphasis on protecting your family from the threat of violence and the potential of killing someone?

The Bible’s Old Testament talks about there being a time for war and a time for peace. I believe in the Bible therefore I believe it does tell me that there is a time when violence to protect yourself or your family is needed, even required. My church produced a document in the 1990’s called “Proclamation” wherein it says clearly the father/husband’s responsibility is to protect the family. So, yes, I think I am completely with my rights, natural rights (a.k.a. God-given rights). The very first natural right is the “right to life” as outlined by every major “rights” expert. As such, the right to protect yourself is fundamental to us as people. A right given to us by God, not man. Therefore, I am within my rights to defend myself and my family, even if I have to take a life to do so. And I am comfortable to stand in front of my God and answer for that should the need come.

  • Do you really think the religion of Islam is all that bad?

No, it is worse, far worse, than “all that bad” by an order of magnitude. First, Islam is not a religion, it is a form of worship.

There is a difference. It is also a form of morals that Mohammad came up with to control his thieving and murderous gang that he put together when he was in his middle ages. He used so-called words from his God to control men and women to do his bidding. Islam is a form of political theory and civic morality, it is hardly a religion as commonly accepted. Even his god, that he claims is the same as the Jews and Christians, is actually rather clumsily borrowed from a pagan cult. “Allah” was the name of a moon-god worshiped by local cult members where Mohammad resided at the time he formed a caravan raiding gang. Even the symbol of Islam is a crescent moon.

Islam is responsible for more deaths than all other forms of government and religion combined. Islam was spread at the tip of the sword and people were forced to convert or die. Anyone reading any objective history of Mohammad and Islam can see for themselves why Islam is the centerpiece of the problems in the world today. And…it will get far worse.

  • You speak of the ruling and political class seeking after power and money, which is the cause of all the problems in the world. How is that possible?

I believe that people, many people, have the unrighteous desire to control others. They seek to impose their will, morals, and desires onto other people. There are two major avenues for forcing people to do something against their will; 1) money, 2) power. With money you can buy a person’s temporary change in behavior. With power you can simply force them into that temporary change…or they die.

With power, politicians can get money from people through favors and benefits. With money, people can buy power, or the temporary use of it, from those that have it, namely politicians and bureaucrats (i.e. governments). Then there are the people who have an unbridled lust for power and money, they have an insatiable lust that must be met. Those are the truly dangerous people in the world.

For the most part those that just seek power are petty bureaucrats. Those that just seek money will be found among the rich. For the most part the dual-lust folks are politicians (i.e. government). There is no such thing as a benevolent government.

The worst of the dual-lust folks are people that belong to the Council of Foreign Relations, Unions, high-level bureaucrats, high-level politicians, and some of the ultra-rich like the Gates, Betty, Rothschild’s, Morgan’s, Zuckerberg’s, Rockefellers, etc.. Those are the folks that seek to control everyone and own everything. They are dangerous because they know how to use power and money to get whatever they want. And seldom, if ever, do they want what’s best for the individuals’ freedoms, rights, or liberties.

  • Have you traveled much to know what you are talking about?

Well, you be the judge of that. I’ve been to 4 or 5 continents as well as the Arctic Circle. I traveled to at least a dozen countries that I can remember, including Russia and a Muslim country in Africa. I lived overseas in two different countries, and traveled internationally for a total of more than two years total. In the United States I can’t think of a single state I’ve not spent time in vacationing or working in with the exception of Maine. I’ve lived for extensive lengths of time (multiple years) in five states. Does that help?

Ask me a question …

FAQ – 4/24/2016

  • What will be the number one barter item when the grid goes down?

Whatever the other person wants! Yeah, a lame answer to be sure, but it is 100% accurate. To a man who has a gun and no ammo, ammo will be the most important. To a woman whose husband is dying from an infection, antibiotics will be the most important. To a hungry person who has garden space and no seed to plant, seeds will be the most important. To an addict, any drug will be the most important. For me? Probably Pepsi!

  • Is there any chance that America can survive a collapse?

No. America has been building as an empire for 200+ years. It has been the sole superpower for the last 30 years. Every, let me repeat that, every single empire that has ever existed has fallen into the dust of history. America will be no different. The only question is how violent the fall will be? I say it will be a bloodbath beyond imagination. Whatever is left over, if anything, will be of nothing more than minor importance in the world at the time. If America chooses to go down roaring…lookout. It could turn into a nuclear Armageddon.

  • You don’t talk much about the Federal Reserve, why?

I do try to concentrate on preparedness. I am not always successful on that intention. My views on the Federal Reserve are simple and based on fact –

– The Federal Reserve is a private corporation run by unelected private bankers.

– The Federal Reserve has been given the authority to manipulate the interest rates, the employment rate, and every other aspect of the US economy.

– Since the Federal Reserve began operating the USA has suffered more recessions, the only national depression, more stock market bubbles, more monetary collapses, than before the Federal Reserve was founded and empowered.

– The Federal Reserve is the brainchild of the Progressives and put into place to control wealth and power in the entire US economic system by private bankers outside of any control by elections or the citizenry.

– The Federal Reserve is actively trying to destroy the Trump economy.

  • If you could only have one gun, what would it be?

That is an easy one…a short-barreled AR-style carbine with a suppressor. The 5.56 round is a great round, lethal, and you can carry a bunch of them. You can find ammo anywhere since that is the standard round for the military. The short barrel makes it light and easy to maneuver even inside a house. The suppressor gives you a low profile and the ability to not make yourself deaf when shooting. The AR is highly reliable if you keep the bolt carrier group well lubricated. The 5.56 round is very accurate out to 300 yards. Even with a short-barreled model you are good to 200 yards. And honestly, I don’t want to engage at any distance, let alone have a firefight at 600 yards.

  • Does the government have the ability and do they track individual citizens?

DUH ! Of course they do. The NSA has been doing it for decades.

  • What about body armor?

Well dang…that is getting into the nitty-gritty. I don’t think it is for everyone. But it is one of those things that it is better to have and not need it, that to need it and not have it. I don’t think it is at the top of the priority list of prepper items to purchase. But, I do believe that if a person is in-tune with the spirit and is prompted to buy it, then you better buy it. And if you are going to buy, get good stuff. If I were to buy body armor I would have an III-A compliant soft vest that could be worn concealable. I would then have a set of front/rear plates in a good quality carrier. And yes, a level III-A helmet isn’t a bad idea either. Wearing the soft vest under the plates help you a whole lot if you take a round to the plate. The soft vest will help absorb the brutal impact of the round hitting the plate. You are probably looking at about $400 for a good soft level III-A vest, about the same for ballistic plates, another $100 for good plate carrier. For a decent high-cut level III-A helmet you are looking at another $200 or so.

FAQ – 4/16/2016

  • What is your favorite gun parts manufacturer?

Strictly for parts I love Spikes. For uppers I really like Bravo Company. For optics I don’t think you can get better than Trijicon and Aimpoint generally speaking. Although, for the price, Konus is looking pretty decent.

Do you think the Baofeng UV-5RA radio is the best handheld radio out there?

No. The best quality handheld on the market today is the Yaesu FT-60r in my opinion. But the Baofeng UV-5RA was the best radio for the money. The UV-5RA is 1/6th the cost of the FT-60r.

But I now recommend the UV-5RA’s bigger brother Baofeng UV-5RMHP. It has three power settings 1 / 4 / 7watts. It is everything great about the UV-5RA with added power. The UV-5RMHP is plenty good enough for just about everything that a prepper could think of. I would rather every member of your family have a UV-5RMHP, then a single FT-60r.

  • Are you the best prepper “expert” on the Internet?

Duh! Of course I am!!! OK, seriously, what a silly and loaded question. I have my strengths and weaknesses. There might be a specific area where I am the best…maybe. But, overall, I am just one of thousands of “experts.” What I try to do is give real-life advice and information on what I know will help you deal with emergencies, disasters, and grid-down. You will find the right prepper website that “clicks” with you, someone that you will find is giving you the information that you need and believe to be true. It isn’t the same for everyone.

I am looking for those people who I can help. The other people will find other experts that will touch them and help them. I just shoot for being right with the information I provide, I am not worried about being an “expert.”

I base my information on my career I have 40+ years of experience as a structure firefighter, wildland firefighter, and major incident management. That has given me a pretty good base of training and real-life experience. You can be the judge of just what that means to you.

  • When do you think the gird will come down?

If you are referring to the country’s infrastructure, I have no idea. If you ware referring to the collapse of America…well, I am not sure. I think we are on the verge of a total breakdown of society. That breakdown could happen tomorrow morning or we could hang on for years continuing to slide downhill towards a totalitarian state. But, let me say it again…I think we are on the verge of a total breakdown. I think that the economy could collapse tomorrow morning if the right triggers were hit. But, America is collapsing…we are living through the collapse just like every empire that has existed before.

  • How can you stand working for the very government you criticize so much?

Note: That was asked of me while I still worked for the federal government…I am now retired. Let me tell you, it ain’t easy. Fortunately for me I work in a highly focused job with the government, I fight wildfires. I seldom get swept up in the sheer stupidity or evil of government dealings. But, I get to see those problems almost every day and it sickens me. I try to learn, pass on information, soften government injustices when I can, and I suffer through it until retirement hits.

FAQ – 3/7/2016

  • Why are you so into prepping?

It started back in the late 1970’s when there was a “back to mother-earth” movement taking place in the US. It made sense to me to garden, heat with wood, etc. Then I saw that society was headed in a bad direction and would end up in a very bad place. Being as self-sufficient and independent of the system as possible just seemed to make sense to me. Call it insurance if you like.

  • What is the #1 threat to people after an incident has occurred?

Complacency. Another term, more correctly identified, would be Normalcy Bias. Even after catastrophic incidents have occurred I see people who just block it out until it is right in their face. And that is when their problems really start. You have to see and accept that an incident has occurred, or better yet, will occur, to deal with it successfully.

  • Do you think the US economy will crash?

About six years ago I was commenting online to a story about the perilous condition of our economy. At that time I stated clearly that the economy had already gone off the cliff, the economy was already falling. But, it hasn’t impacted yet at the bottom of that cliff, that is still to come. It is only a matter of when it hits and how hard the impact will be. I personally think it will be devastating, worse than the Great Depression by far.

  • How much food do you have stored?

I have enough for my family to get us to the point where we can plant seeds and begin to grow, harvest, and eat crops.

  • What do you think is the number one food to grow when the grid is down?

Potatoes. My ancestors proved that potatoes can keep you from starving. And they are easy to grow in most conditions, in or out of the ground. Along with potatoes I would say wheat. Wheat sprouts, wheat grass, wheat berries, etc.

FAQ – 3/29/2016

  • How many “incidents” have you participated in over the length of your career?

Thousands all together. Of those I would say several hundred wildfires that were of notable size. About five of which set records in the US. I have been on maybe 20 or so hurricane incidents. Maybe 4 or 5 times that many for really bad weather that didn’t qualify as hurricanes. The rest were just everyday emergency calls for one thing or another, house fires, vehicle accidents, HazMat, extrications, etc. One of note is going to Australia for 6 weeks to help them fight wildfires. That was back in 2007.

  • What makes you think you are a prepper expert and people should listen to you?

That’s the great thing about the Internet, read and believe anyone you want to. As for me, I put my experience and qualifications out there for people to see and evaluate. Then folks are free to believe me or not. I always encourage people to judge my information against commonsense and their own experience. Then do as you wish with whatever I have to say. I am only an “expert” if you view me as one.

  • Sometimes the stuff you write paints a desperate and depressing view of the world, why?

I am not into “fluff” at all. I am going to tell you what I think and how I feel. I am not going to dilute what I think is coming. If I did I would be lying and hurting your Situational Awareness. I want to be the one person one who tells it to you like it is, then you can prepare for it or not. But remember, I have a whole lot of hope for the future. Ultimately I believe that Jesus Christ returns to earth. In the meantime we have a tremendous opportunity to learn and grow…and straighten each other, especially our family. And when the day finally arrives that all our preps are needed, we will be able to reach out to family, friends, neighbors, community, and our congregations to help them as needed. So my outlook for what happens is bleak in one respect, it will be a glorious opportunity in so many other ways.

  • You talk about “bugging out” but I’ve never seen you talk about walking somewhere to get there. Do you think you will always have a vehicle to drive?

There’s a lot to that question, let me take it in pieces. A bugout is not my preference, sheltering in place is always my preference. If I have to bugout I want to drive so I can take all of my primary supplies and gear with me. I think there is a small chance that we won’t be able to use a vehicle. If I can’t drive, then I will walk and I have my gear designed to do that. But, I greatly increase my chances of dying if I am walking, so my preference is to drive. The chance of having to walk I calculate at under 3%.

FAQ – 3/17/2016

  • Which is better, bug-out or shelter in place?

First, let me congratulate you on using the correct term, shelter in place. Some people use the term bug-in and that is not the correct professional term. I think that sheltering in place is always the preferred option. You have everything with you, don’t have to transport it, best organization, and most familiarity with your surroundings. That being said, sheltering in place, is not always possible. I think a person should always have a minimum of four options to bug out to.

  • How important are guns for preppers?

The most important “thing” for preppers to have is a gun…or 5 or 10. You must be able to defend yourself and your family. If you can’t defend yourself from the bad guys then all your stuff becomes their resource. Along with the weapon itself, you must have the mentality that you can and will pull the trigger to defend your family.

  • What do you think is the number one worse thing that ever happened in the United States?

The creation of the Progressive agenda in the later 1800’s. I can honestly and sincerely say that event ensured the downfall of the United States much like the creation of a Roman Emperor was the turning point that ensured the downfall of the Roman Empire.

  • How much ammunition should you have on hand as a prepper?

I like to joke around and say if you know how much ammo you have, you don’t have enough. And, I prefer to answer that question in relation to each gun you have. Here are my thoughts for minimums –

– Pistol: 200 rounds of Hornady XTP or Golden Saber

– Shotgun: 300 rounds of 00 buckshot, Slugs, Hornady SST

– Carbine: 2000 rounds of a good penetrating round if 5.56, FMJ if 7.62

  • What is your favorite knife?

Not easy answer for that, I have several I like. I look for a quality knife that will hold an edge, easy to sharpen, and doesn’t need a lot of care. It also depends on the mission for the knife.

– Survival: ESEE 3, 4, or 5

– Combat: Gerber StrongArm

– Fighting; CRKT Hishotiam

– Every Day Carry (clip): Syderco Paramilitary

– Every Day Carry (pocket): Gerber model STL 2.0 (black) knife

Why Am I Doing This?

Question for you…Why should you visit and read yet another preparedness website?

Great questions, answers hopefully live up to your expectations. However, my bias will show through right now. I have read a lot of preparedness manuals and visit(ed) a lot of preparedness websites, more of each than is healthy for any one individual to do. But, if I am going to claim the title of “expert” then I better know what I am talking about. However, that is not why I read other preparedness manuals or visit other preparedness websites. There is a lot of “rights stuff” out there…but I read/visit them to find out how wrong others are and try to correct that. Yeah, I know it sounds arrogant to be sure. But I have my reasons – your safety is one of them.

I’ve learned my emergency preparedness knowledge over the course of 40+ years of emergency services and military experience. I have successfully survived hundreds of large to mid-sized emergencies and disasters, maybe thousands if I took into consideration all the small ones. Some of those incidents were small, some were national and state-level record setting events. In each situation I learned such things as; 1) what to do, 2) what not to do. When I read preparedness manuals I usually find more “what not to do.”Prepper Geek with equipment and gear

Don’t get me wrong, I think the vast majority of those publications contain some good information. And, I believe were written with the best of intentions but were lacking in one or more areas, namely; 1) formal training, 2) no actual professional experience, 3) limited breadth/depth of experience, 4) bias. There is a fifth group, I call them “shucksters.” This is the group that puts together a preparedness manual simply to make money or enhance their reputation.

So where do I fit in this group? What is the purpose for me adding yet another preparedness website to the Internet?

I am not a complicated person in regards to my motives when it comes to emergency preparedness. I simply want you to have the knowledge to survive emergencies, disasters, and grid-down events. Yup, that’s it in a nutshell…plain and simple.

Let me share a recent experience with this…I ran out of reading material and I was looking around my home office for more reading material, preferably a novel. Bummer! I had run out of novels to read, but there sat an almost two inch thick emergency preparedness manual that I had bought over six months ago. It was time to review it.

As I was looking over it, I realized it fit a similar pattern, page after page of public domain “to-do” information. There was list after list after list of items to include in this pack, that pack, or store away in the basement, etc. I had my work cut out for me.

As I was scanning through a list of clothing to buy and store for emergencies I saw them recommend “sweats” as in sweatpants and sweatshirts. I was hooked, I had to figure out the reasoning on sweats. They went on to explain that they were inexpensive, easy to care for, warm, easy to layer, and the ideal emergency clothing. I about fell out of my chair. Had they ever worn sweatpants and sweatshirts in any type of actual emergency or disaster? I sincerely doubt it.

In my way of thinking sweats are probably one of the worst pieces of clothing you could possibly wear during any emergency or any disaster. Here’s why:

  • They are too hot for the southwest United States 3-1/2 seasons of the year. You would overheat in about 15 minutes.
  • They are too cold for about 80% of the population of the US for about 3 months of the year.
  • They tear easily.
  • They wear out easily.
  • If they get wet they lose all insulating qualities.
  • If they get wet, they become extremely heavy.
  • They take forever to dry if they are wet.
  • Sweatshirts have no ability to open the neck to allow body heat to escape.
  • They are very bulky.

OK, I am not going to continue listing the reasons why they are a terrible choice for emergency preparedness clothing, you get my idea. But, as I read on they then talked about the benefits of bandanas a critical item of emergency clothing. What? Come on, seriously! And she wanted you to have 12 of them as a minimum ready to go. I couldn’t believe what I was reading. But, she wasn’t done.

There was a list of what to take if you had to leave your home, it was based for each person. I did some mental calculations and it would take about a 20’ moving van for a family of four. But the worst part was, she gave little, if any, reasoning to explain why to take any specific item.

On the flip side of that coin, there was list after list after list after list of everything imaginable. Some of it was good information to have around. But the vast majority of it was extremely painfully boring. Example: cook stoves – she listed about 20 or so different cook stoves and all of these facts about them. Why?

Really, why would she list all of that information on cook stoves? If she is an expert, she should have done the research and chosen the best cook stove for any given situation. Then present that recommendation in the book with her reasoning. Otherwise, why would someone want to buy the book just to get a list of information on stoves that is readily available via the Internet? And why would they buy a book from her if she isn’t going to evaluate what is best and what is not?

So this this website is not about lists, it is not about repeating information that you can already research on the Internet. This website is about me sharing with you my 40+ years of real-life emergency preparedness knowledge, skills, and experience in written form. A lot of it will be preparedness principles such as “Risk Management.” I will present that subject so you can know how to systematically and correctly overcome risks and threats you encounter during emergencies, disasters, and grid-down events. The I will present “practical preparedness” as well with in-depth articles on gear and equipment.

Yes, I will provide some lists in this book. I use them as examples related to a principle I will have just explained. The list would be more of a visual aid than a set in stone command. Why? It is the principle that matters more than anything else.

Learning math I remember memorizing my multiplication tables. It was simple memorization, I wasn’t learning anything other than 2×2=4. As I moved along into Algebra I had to learn different principles in order to solve complex problems. If you got a step wrong, your answer would always be wrong. The principle was the critical element. However, when performing math having memorized the multiplication tables made it far easier in many instances. This website will be some of both, principles and practical, but heavier on the principle side.

Why? I can give you a fish and you can eat today. I can teach you how to fish and you can eat for a long time…as long as there are fish. If I teach you the underlying principles of fishing, building a pond, growing and breeding fish, etc. then you can feed your family and a whole community forever.

In this website I have included topics such as:

  • Identifying risks and threats, and how to deal with them.
  • How to set the right priorities every time.
  • How to make the right decisions every time.
  • How to be an emergency incident leader.
  • How to clearly see what is happening around you.
  • And many “how to’s” for everything from first aid kits to bugout bags.

Let me share an example with you – first aid kits. What do you put in them? Yes, I am asking you what do you put in a first aid kit?

There are lots of preparedness manuals out there that will give you a list of first aid kit supplies. But what they aren’t explaining first is realistically what medical emergencies you can expect to face…or even how to identify the difference between an emergency and a disaster. And just as importantly, I will explain realistically how to deal with those medical emergencies. So other experts may recommend five different sizes of Band-Aids, but never list a CAT tourniquet. And that is because they don’t understand, or never thought of, the fact that you are most likely to bleed to death from cutting a large vein or artery, than die from a paper cut that a Band-Aid covers.

They also don’t understand there is a “priority order” to acquiring medical first aid supplies. They don’t understand the priority aspect because they don’t understand priority setting in emergencies, disasters, and during grid-down. Before you buy your first Band-Aid, you better have a CAT for each person in your family. Once that is purchased, then you can consider Band-Aids and triple antibiotic.

Yes, preventing an infection is absolutely necessary. However, you buy the triple antibiotic AFTER you have purchased the CATs. Why? It will take days, weeks, or maybe months to die from an infection. But you can bleed to death in minutes if you don’t get the bleeding stopped. Correctly identifying risks, mitigating those risks, setting priorities is the only way you are going to become properly prepared. I will share that and much more with you within these covers.

Another thing I won’t do in this website is teach you how to make a fire from French fries, toothpicks, or bubble gum. I won’t tell you how to gut a deer, or use a Dutch Oven. I won’t even give you 15 of my favorite campfire whole wheat recipes. What I will do is tell you when a Dutch Oven is appropriate and when it’s not. I will also probably tell you which one I recommend.

I believe in quality gear and equipment. You don’t want junk gear to fall apart when it is needed most, so I always preach to buy quality gear. However, a friend of mine has reminded me on more than one occasion that “training trumps gear.” Man, he is spot on! All the best gear in the world isn’t much good if you don’t know how to use it. And you better know how to function without any gear, or better yet, how to make or acquire gear if yours is lost or taken.

For teaching hands-on skills I will leave it up to those that know them best. They can teach you a whole host of high-quality survival skills. Some of those skills you would find really interesting and entertaining.

You want to learn to shoot, especially in a gunfight? Well, learn from a gunfighter. Makes sense, but how many of us have taken shooting classes from people that have never been in a gunfight.

What I am getting at here is there are plenty of places to learn specific hands-on skills. Go learn what you need to from an existing expert, I’m not going to use valuable website space repeating what is already available from other expert sources.

Finally, my writing style. You may have already found my writing style to be…ah, interesting to say the least. Thank you!

I am not a professional writer as a career. I much prefer to have an actual conversation. I would rather be standing in front of a room full of folks like you where we could actually talk about emergency preparedness. But, that is probably not going to happen. So I chose the next best option – a website.

However, I write like I would speak as if we were sitting down across from each other and just having a conversation. I think it makes it more interesting, I can make my points more clearly, and I am most comfortable with this style.

One last piece of information – I can be very blunt. I seldom mean to be rude, I just want to get my point across. I am also not afraid to ruffle feathers, sometimes it needs to happen, and I don’t shy away from it. That can lead to some level of conflict even in website form. I hope you are OK with. I hope you enjoy this website journey with me.

Finally…please give me feedback. If I am not meeting your needs than this is a waste of time. Your comments, suggestions, ideas, criticisms, and feedback help me a whole lot!!!
