This SCOTUS ruling (November 9, 1942) is known as “Wickard v Filburn”. This was where wheat grown by Mr. Filburn, on his own land, for his own cattle was declared part of “interstate commerce” and therefore was subject to the whim of government regulators. It was one of the first and worst of the rulings destroying our right to private property.
It should have been no surprise.
This was only a few months after FDR signed Executive Order 9066 (February 19, 1942), which allowed interning Americans of Japanese descent and stripping private property from them without trial.
