(Still a work in progress…bear with me while I work to add to and update this page. Thank you !)

This is the home page for all things “solar” It will be the central point for the website’s information on solar information, including our glamstead’s solar system. This page is a work in progress and will change whenever I post or link more information to it.

I hope you find the information useful and helpful.

    • I have fifteen 350 Watt panels with micro inverters on my roof that produce energy and send it out to the grid.
I have a $10-$15 a month connect fee from the electrical company for being on the grid.
When the grid goes down I have no electricity.
Is there a way I can manually or automatically disconnect from the grid if the grid goes down and connect to some batteries that I can run my furnace and lights from?

      • Yes John, you can. You will need batteries to store the energy you are producing…then it goes tot he grid. There are manual or automatic transfer switches that can disconnect you from the grid…and then bee energy independent during power outages.
Since you are grid-tied you will need a qualified electrician to do the work as well as approved equipment and plans. I suggest you contact a reputable solar company in your area. They can guide you through this. FYI…it won’t be cheap.
        Hope that helps.
